So, for those of you who didn't know, Patreon has shut down my page and with it 90% of my income.
"But why?" I hear you ask, through the microphones I've secretly placed in your home. Is it because I violated the law, or engaged in depraved acts beyond all ethical boundaries? Did I push the limits of human decency too far? What vile and disgusting act could I have possibly committed that justifies having my game and my income destroyed?
I put Alice in the game.
Yes, that's it. Alice exists. Patreon's new policy is, and I quote: "We do not allow the presence of underage characters in Adult/18+ content." Which means no Alice, no Lil' Roxy and those kids of yours? Definitely not. The fact that none of them are sexualized in any way is irrelevant. They exist, therefore the game is no longer allowed on Patreon.
So the page is completely done, finished, gone forever?
Well... I've been told that if I wait two months I can remake the game completely and submit it to the Trust and Safety Team for review and possible acceptance as a brand new page and account. But the kids would have to be gone. Erased from the game and the lore completely. Chloe will no longer have a little sister, Lil' Roxy will be unmade, and all your kids will be erased from history. If I want to get back onto Patreon I have to eviscerate CK.
I won't do that. I refuse.
Patreon will keep drawing new lines, keep shifting the goalposts, keep trying to squeeze adult creators off their site until all that's left is a shiny, sterile, puritanical paradise. They don't want me to be a part of that and, frankly, neither do I.
I could try moving everyone over to SubScribestar, but that has traditionally not done well. Is it possible? Sure. Is it likely? Not very.
So what's the solution? A roll of the dice. A gamble.
I'm bringing Corrupted Kingdoms to Steam.
Now, Steam won't allow modded Koikatsu (the engine I'm using for renders) on its storefront, so that means I need to remake all of the graphical assets. This is going to alienate and irritate a lot of people, I know, but I don't see another path here. Without the Patreon income I only have a few months before my resources run out. Some people won't like the new graphical style, some won't ever read this and will think I abandoned the old version for a chance at a bigger profit on Steam, and some people simply don't like Corrupted Kingdoms.
The pitfalls are many. Steam may not allow the game on the store, or it may be review-bombed, or people may simply not buy it, to name just a few.
But I have to do it.
Is it a risk? Absolutely. But it's this or throwing Alice and the kids in the dumpster, and I won't do that. Not for any amount of money. Patreon will never be satisfied. So even if this bankrupts me, I'm finishing this story, and I'm finishing it right.
Certainty of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

God damnit it's MGI all over again...
corrupted kingdom is one of the few that is enjoyable of the 18+ games i played so far which uses koikatsu i can name on my hand the ones that are nice and this is one of them, this game will be reborn anew and better because we believe in you and its not a chastity caged patreon that will make this game drop dead when patreon first came around it was nice and fun to get support from it and now? hahaha.. its almost like they want to distilate the rules of freedom themselves created to help devs so they can get a disgustingly pure community to the point many devs are leaving it and i saw plenty of games be done for because of a rule patreon changed like your case so best luck to you and the game this game deserves its support and so does your efforts ive been following the game for a while even if i wasnt playing it for some time the amount of updates you give this game shows your determination on making your game and because patreon is becoming a prude he is choking many 18+ games creators out of its site i dont want this game to die and i hope everything goes well for you -Abyssal28
Stay strong my friend. Patreon will eventually see that their loss of revenue far exceeds their desire to have a whitewashed family image to impress their investors/advertisers

This sort of broad-stroke censorship is ridiculously hypersensitive and it will just keep getting worse if people don't stand up to it. Best of luck to you, and I for one will definitely purchase the game on Steam when it comes out over there!
Unfortunately it looks like SubscribeStar allows only debit/credit cards and not PayPal, so it is difficult for me to support you there. But on Steam at least I will.
Part of why SubscribeStar doesn't have PayPal support is because of PayPal's own puritanical sterile rules against transactions related to erotica of any sort.
I see! That's a shame. Sigh. And I guess something like iDeal, which is the system the Netherlands uses for online banking, probably is too niche internationally for most such websites to include. Too bad, but understandable.

SubStar does accept prepaid cards for people who don't have credit/debit cards, so that may be a possibility if your local area sells them?

Even if the SubscribeStar Shift fails and I have to move to Steam, I will continue to post "demos" here as always. I don't want to punish players on a limited budget or those with no access to Steam!
so does that mean no more updates on itch? because i love the game, but i have a lot of friends on steam and i dont want them seeing the notification of me playing adult games to pop up
I believe it is now possible on Steam to prevent specific games from showing up when you play them. See this page.
As Babelismoj says, you can now set your games to private, both at the time of purchase as well as once they're in your library :)
But also, "demos" will continue to be posted on Itch even if the Steam move happens, so you'll still be able to play the public version here as normal!
And if enough people shift over to SubscribeStar then I won't have to move to Steam at all, and I can finish CK just as I started it!

Hi, I just remembered: there is a sex scene in the game which includes Alice. In Act two when she comes over for a visit and you can have fun with Gwen or Chloe behind the Sofa Alice is sitting on. She is not involved, but she is !!!present!!! And Patreon said, that the !presence! of underage characters in sexual scenes is not allowed. Maybe this is what is causing the problems?
I thought it might be that, but my offer to remove any scenes they found problematic was met with:
"We do not allow the presence of underage characters in Adult/18+ content."
And a follow-up email to their Guidelines team made it clear that they were talking about no minors in the game at all under any circumstances. In short, they weren't interested in actually trying to adjust the game to suit their guidelines - they just wanted another adult game dev off their site.
Well, that is Just mean...
Then what about the children at the Day Care. They are like a few weeks old. Does the pregnancy system need to be removed too.
Hopefully subscribe star presents you with what you need or at least most of it until you get that more permanent solution
Fingers crossed! If everyone can hit at least the first goal over on SubscribeStar then I won't have to move CK to Steam or change the graphics. Here's hoping!

Well, looks like i have to wait for the Steam version. I've been playing the game for some time, and i absolutely love it. I hope everything turns out fine, i can't wait fot the next update.

I'm still hopeful that the SubscribeStar migration will work and I won'thave to change the graphics or shift to Steam, but we'll see!
Been checking the game ypdates every now and then cuz i cant really play anymore (moved from my parents place to one with my best pal and cant really bring my pc) but i will say that I fully support bringing CK to Steam.. one thing tho, if we support this current version, will we have to re buy it on Steam? I'll have to take advantage of this situation since buying on Steam for me gets too expensive, with he'll of a lot of stupid taxes (Aguante Argentina carajo)
No, the game will still be free on Itch and updated with new content so you don't need to worry.
As Yasuken says, CK "demos" will continue to be released on Itch so that nobody is left out.
I will also be adding permanent 50-80% off sales to CK for countries where the regional pricing makes everything stupidly expensive :)
Be careful that your H characters dont look underage other wise theyll jerk it its what they did to the MIST game

I don't understand why Patreon is doing a "this has a kid in an adult game, nuking it" without checking to see if the kid is involved in sexy shenanigans or not. Because you have Alice in the game, even though you have zero intention of Alice being involved sexually, Patreon killed it? To say nothing of the MCs's kids!
I'll keep supporting CK and Pixie and her ice cream demands through here, geez Patreon really dropped the ball on this one! (Yes, Pixie, I brought a variety of ice cream for you to...how on earth did you eat 2 gallons of ice cream so fast??)

Patreon banned a lot of amazing devs this week, and largely for the same or similar nonsensical reasons. They're slowly trying to strangle every adult developer off the site without having to potentially tank their reputation and stock price by making a blanket ban (they've learned from Tumblr and OnlyFans).
It sucks, but honestly it may be a good thing in the long term if it helps migrate people over to SubscribeStar - a place just like Patreon but with far fewer draconian regulations!
CK blew me away. It was the first adult game I played where I realized I was enjoying it for the story as well as the /obvious bits/ that drew me to playing adult games in general. And when I experienced some discomfort with the game, you listened to my feedback (and I was a nobody) and implemented the auto-win battle feature. I can't express how surprised I was that you even responded to me at all.
I wish I could fund the game big-time - you as a creator absolutely deserve it! Sadly, I don't have it made like that. Aha
BUT
If it comes to Steam, I'll buy it! Whatever the fanciest edition available is!
And I'll give it a glowing review from my main account with PRIDE!

I always try to listen to players as much as I can, and implement their suggestions so long as it doesn't get in the way of the story. I want everyone playing to have as much fun as possible, and regardless of whether the SubscribeStar migration works or I'm forced to go to Steam, that won't change!
