Ohhhhhh my goodness. This game was delightfully creepy - I normally don't play horror games, but I had heard such wonderful things about this game that I wanted to give Karamu a shot, and my god, I am so glad I did!!
Nellie is such a unique protagonist in otome land (I can't think of anyone heading off to veterinary school!) and the composition and animation made the game feel like I was flipping through pages of a comic book.
I also want to add that the walkthrough was super helpful, and that you did a fantastic job of capturing that creepy five AM atmosphere! I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time, and also: the arachnophobia warning was honestly a bit of an understatement LMAO, but we persevered!! Thank you for sharing this with us. It was a treat, and I can't wait until I have more time to play the sequel!

You absolutely succeeded in making a horror game fun and creepy without it being overwhelming!! I cannot understate how much I generally avoid horror, and yet Karamu hit a lot of solid narrative notes. The atmosphere helped a lot, I believe; the game was really dynamic with unique animations that drew me into their world, and as someone that used to go on 5am runs, you nailed how quiet the world is at that hour. But mostly, I think it's the lack of jumpscares and assuming your audience needs shock to be horrified? Karamu reminds me of older horror films (like Psycho and other Hitchcock films), where your imagination does a lot of the work, and *that's* the kind of horror a wider audience can get behind, I think.
Nelli was FANTASTIC. While her VA did such a great job at invoking her emotions, I truly wasn't expecting to love her as much as I did. ♥ You've certainly made a fan out of me, lol! I look forward to playing your other games and leaving reviews on them too (and honestly, sharing your games with my friends who DO enjoy horror!! I know that if I'm having a grand time, they'll enjoy it even more)
To be honest I couldn't be too objective while playing this game because Raku is basically just like my ex, and it felt honestly so weird to play a game like this with someone that reminds me that much of him. The break-up is fairly recent so it just makes it even weirder- PLUS, some things are word-for-word texts that he sent me, so it was a surreal experience, ngl, but besides that, I reeeally loved this game!! Some of the endings were particularly hard due to my situation, but I honestly really loved it!! Also, I want to directly thank you for adding a walkthrough inside the game, it made me so honestly happy to see it!!! <33

the story managed to subvert the expectations of Raku as a character trope. the twists of the story is also unexpected, but a very welcome change of pace from this usual type of story. i didnt expect the cg to have animations. it makes everything look flowy and soft. i expected flowers to wind by the characters.
loved the designs of the characters. its cute, Nelli's red eyes and Raku's glowing eyes... i loved berry much <3
oooh and Nelli.. im very interested about the dynamics to be honest Ówò the unusual way the story build itself and characters chemistry. 10/10.

I've difficult to find alone ''Good ending''but the game ( also dev) helped people like me to encouter <33333 ( The english is not my first language, sorry for the errors). AND WE NEED THE PART2 of this amazing and wonderful history

Voice acting great and oh boy was I not actually expecting animations at all =D They are very nice and did the trick. But boy oh boy, "don't play this game if you're afraid of spiders" made me a bit thinking if I should play it.

Hmm, while I do know that a lot of players enjoy self-insert protags when playing VNs, Nelli isn't one, hence why her name/appearance is not changeable (and customizable appearance would unfortunately be difficult to implement for a game with as many animated illustrations as this). I do have a couple games planned with self-insert protags without defined appearances, though! I hope you enjoy them :)

Haha, I'll go into the transformation lore a little bit more in the prequel/sequel (which are both in scripting phases)! Nelli had no idea about Raku's true self because he kept it from her, and he basically hasn't transformed much in the past four years while he was at university. He doesn't need to transform, and he can eat normal food for calories (although he does have a liking for raw meat). He can control his transformation (only transforming partially, or transforming fully - and he can also control the size). He's part of a family of "creatures" like him, and it's genetic. The world is inhabited by different species of creatures like him, but they mostly stay on the down-low, hidden from human society.

thats why maybe a little “even tho i cried to him, i realised i know nothing about this guy and i hated it, i want authenticity” would be cool. and overtime in the ‘good’ endings Nelli gets the authenticity she needs for a good relationship in her POV.
ALSOO, a POV from raku? to explain his obsession, how he views Nelli (depending on the endings, like an animal, like his saviour, like his lover, etc….). also to show his origins!!!!

I loved the game. 10/10. The art style, voice acting, the twists and turns were amazing and beautiful and very cool. The twist in which Raku was a spider was a very great twist I liked it he was kinda cute as a spider. The ending in which Nelli was hiding in her apartment and was protecting her cat i think the spider who paid her a visit was Raku he was watching over her which is so cute and i love how he is a yandere. I love Nelli's voice she sounds pretty. I JUST LOVE THE GAME AND HOW ITS MADE! THANK YOU AND BYE BYE!
