Changelog: pre-alpha 1.2.0 (6/22/20) — Detection and Alternate Outfits


Last week was a very productive week! I managed to accomplish two major goals: detection and alternate outfits. I also managed to make a litany of minor changes and fixes. 

Detection has been completely reworked to be more like Hitman; it is a gradual progression rather than instantaneous. How quick an NPC detects you varies on two factors: distance and undress. The further away you are, the slower you are to detect; inversely, the closer you are, the faster you are to detect. The more noticeably undressed you are also factors into it; being topless is much more noticeable than being bottomless.

Before starting a game, you have the choice between three different outfits: a school uniform, an oversized sweater, and pajamas. It is a significant milestone to be able to change outfits, as this opens the way to multiple clothing options. As stated before, all models are placeholders and will be changed in the future.

Changelog
  • Detection is now gradual rather than instantaneous. The rate of detection is based on how far away the NPC is to the player and how undressed the player is. Removing more noticeable things, such as your top, makes you quicker to detect.
  • Reworked the AI pathfinding to be a bit smarter. They can now walk to more areas than before.
  • The AI will now slowly chase after the player when they detect them. This changes accompanies a massive overhaul to how AI works, allowing for more robust behaviors in the future.
  • There are now three oufits available to wear: a school uniform, an oversized sweater, and pajamas.
  • Add a menu before starting the game to select game settings. There are three settings, however only the outfit can be changed. This will be expanded upon in the future.
  • Add a social media bar containing a link to my Twitter, itch.io page, and Patreon at the bottom-center of the title screen. This replaces the "Become a Patron" button at the top-right of the screen.
  • Adjusted the lighting so that things should be a bit easier to see.
  • Fixed the player floating in the air. Her feet are now on the ground.
  • Fixed the camera to properly collide with walls and culling the player when it is too close.

I'm new to this website so sorry if i post a comment somewhere I shouldn't. I just wanted to say I absolutely love this idea for a game and I am going to be following you 100% of the way. Are these posts the best place to ask you questions about the game or if I have any concerns/bugs?

When she's in pajamas or a blouse (I don't remember), when she's standing still
you can see the skin of your private part instead of the pants.

The models are going to be replaced soon, so I wouldn't worry about them.
