JAM STARTS TODAY

Jam Theme: A Fragile Balance

Join the one week long jam, we have 17 possible different winners that can win money: https://itch.io/jam/fia-x-umodeler-mega-jam

you can do 2D if you like. plenty of ways to win prizes

1 Day Left Before Our Game Jam Starts! Invite friends and prep to use UModeler X Pro!!! Once again, using their templates IS allowed during the jam, making it insanely easy to create a game using their platform

You can friend me on Discord at: jasonchan9491

The 60-day free trials will be handed out during the jam. To use UModeler X earlier, go to https://unity.umodeler.com/Price to redeem a 45 day trial.

Also if you want to learn Unity and C# I've been doing this for 5 years and can help you get started

For my game jam (it's the FIA x UModeler Jam starting in 3 days), we provide a bigger prize and more chances to win by using Unity and our sponsor's tool, but you are free to use any game engine or programming language you want for a chance at $50

4 days left before our jam starts! Make sure to sign up for a free trial of UModeler X Pro. There could be up to 17 winning teams that can leave home with some cash in their pockets so lock in

yup no problem. the team size is just saying the max team size you can work with. solo is totally fine

I think when it comes down to it you just need to get to building something no matter how small it is. Game jams are a great place to do that cause you get to just experiment and make something nice in a couple of days. There's lots of courses on YouTube of just devs making a complete game in a couple of hours and when you watch enough of those I find that you are able to kind of pick their brains and get a good understanding of how you should approach making games. But I definitely think you should just give a game jam a shot you can be a solo dev, use basic shapes, and make something small to give you that initial boost of confidence. I have a game jam that is going to happen in a week or so and you can join if you want very beginner friendly

Update:

The images on the jam page were apparently low quality so I changed all of them to be at a good resolution

Update:

New promo video from UModeler summing up the jam: https://youtu.be/etosRq63rT4

FYI if you are looking for a team to participate in our jam, you can join our discord server and find people that are willing to join you

We are announcing our FIA x UModeler X Pro Mega Jam, starting on June 2nd and ending June 9th.

We have a $700 prize pool and multiple ways to win some cash!
Make the best game using UModeler X Pro for $350
Make the best overall game without any limitations for $50
Make a decent game using UModeler X Pro and win $20 if you are in the top 15 (not including best)

How do you get UModeler X Pro? Go to the jam page and click the google form link. Submit your email, and we'll send you a 60 day free trial of this amazing 3D modeling tool a few days before the jam starts. And yes, you can take advantage of their already made, $700 worth templates with 3D models already made for you if you are new to 3D or you want to ease the load on modeling yourself and still bringing a quality game to the table.

Join the jam and our discord right here: https://itch.io/jam/fia-x-umodeler-mega-jam

8 HOURS LEFT TO SUBMIT! Keep pushing and don't forget to submit your games

(1 edit)

Just some reminders guys before you submit:

If you guys are trying to win the cash prizes for the jam, then make sure you are properly filling out the contact information, whether that's an email or your discord username. If it is your discord username, please make sure to join the server so when we announce you are there to get pinged. If you make it hard on us to contact you, you may be forfeiting your prize if you manage to win the jam so be careful of that. If you don't care about the prize then by all means do whatever you like.

If you want to qualify for the $50 prize pool using UModeler's tools, you must share your github repo for the project so that our sponsor can make sure that the majority of your 3d models are using their tools.

Hopefully this clarifies with all of you guys for what each submission question in the form is for and why its important to fill it out properly if you care about the cash.  Other than that, happy jamming and best of luck.

*Also, you will be auto disqualified if you are submitting your game to other jams before ours ends. That's showing that 1) you premade your game 2) you didn't read our integrity guidelines 3) you didn't put any effort at all into trying to make something that adheres to our theme so lets not do this.

Jam has already started, the theme is SLICE. Not too late to join. Got 5 days left to make something!

JAM STARTS MIDNIGHT!

A word from our sponsor:

Stuck learning Blender, Max, and Photoshop? Jumpstart your game development smoother and faster with UModeler X in Unity!

Update:

I just realized that our discord server link wasn't on the jam page, here it is: https://discord.gg/jvvJnJ4nW8

One week left before the jam starts! If your spring break is around the corner and you have some free time, why not participate in this jam for a chance to win some nice cash. Even if your spring break is later, it's easily possible to make something presentable in a one week span. Also note that even if the game jam starts, its not too late to join the party

Hello everyone,

Future Inspire Academy is excited to work with UModeler again for our next game jam. It has been quite a while since we last hosted a jam and we want this to be the start of our comeback. It will be a week-long game jam starting on March 21st and ending on the 28th. From our past experiences, we are deciding to split our game jam into two modes. One mode, developers can compete while utilizing UModeler X for their 3D model designs and the other mode, developers are free to make whatever they want besides the limitation from the theme. The catch is that the developers using UModeler X will be competing for a larger prize pool ($50) while the free play mode is competing for a smaller prize pool ($25).

Note that this UModeler game jam is in preparation for a much larger game jam collaborating with UModeler again. That means that if you get the hang of UModeler right now, you can compete in our next game jam that will happen a little after for a much larger prize pool and be ahead of the pack when it comes to knowledge about the tool.

Join the jam and our discord server here: https://itch.io/jam/future-inspire-jam-7-

More updates will flood in this forum with clarifications, more info, and more hype! Thank you UModeler for the sponsor.

Looking good. Like how the boss is coming along but for sure would like to see the boss be advanced in AI and stuff 👍

Would like to see more pictures on the development process next time

Tested your game out, looking good man. Think now its time to focus on the levels

The turret design looks great. And I like the fact that the bottom part of the turret remains there after destroying it. I think if you add more enemies and unique behaviors that’s a very simple way to boost your combat mechanics, it can also give you ideas of new abilities for the player that can take down such attacks. As a player, I’d be more interested in a game that is very challenging rather than too simple

WE HAVE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE AND PUSHED IT BACK FIVE DAYS.

If you are thinking to participate, please let us know in the chat channel in our discord server. It’ll help us see if it is realistic to hit our 10 submission goal

Jam just started a day ago and we can really use some more participants to get to the 10 entry goal that will allow every qualifying game to receive $30.

Hey guys, remember that if you are participating in the jam, please join our discord server. It will help me know how many people are actually going to make a game for the competition and if we would even hit the 10 entry goal

Update:

We pushed back our launch date like 20 hours because there was a mistake with the setup because I am currently not in the US, sorry.

Update:

We have some new information about that jam we want to share with you.

We talked to Yahaha and have agreed to allow devs to make MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS for this upcoming jam that delivers $30 to you for each qualifying jam (as long as we hit that 10+ submission goal). So if you’re up for it, you can try to make 3 qualifying entries for $90 but of course you need to do all the steps for each game. We turned the jam to unranked because this jam is not about being competitive and being the best but to finish games and try a new engine.

The more submissions we get, the more funding the organization gets to fund even more game jams. If you guys want us to do more of these jams where essentially you can get free money, we also need your support.

So invite your friends, help each other out. The Yahaha team is here to answer your questions too, and let’s get jamming very soon: https://itch.io/jam/fia-x-yahaha-3-day-jam-available-for-everyone

Update:

We have added a new policy (more like a reminder and clarification) for Sponsor Disclaimers, here it is:

  1. YAHAHA does not claim ownership of Entries, however, except where prohibited, by participating in the campaign, entrant grants Yahaha and its agents an irrevocable right and license in perpetuity to publish, use, edit, adapt, and/or modify any or all of the content in an Entry that was created or contributed to by Entrant without the need for further approval, in whole or in part, in any way, in any and all media throughout the world, and to associate the Entry with Entrant's name, likeness, and biographical information, without limitation and without compensation for the purposes of announcing winners, showcase and marketing promotion associated to the campaign. Entrant agrees that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of Entries by third parties.

-----------------

I'm now going to break it down for you just to put it in more simple terms to know what this all means and what this means for your game that you submit to our jam; this is mainly for the people who are concerned about why you are required to give Yahaha access to your game's itch page when you submit:

  1. Ownership: Yahaha does not claim ownership of your game (referred to as "Entries").
  2. License Granted: By participating in the campaign, you grant Yahaha and its agents an irrevocable, perpetual license to:
    • Publish, use, edit, adapt, and modify any or all content in your game entry.
    • Use your entry in any media worldwide.
    • Associate your entry with your name, likeness, and biographical information.
  3. Purpose: The granted license is for:
    • Announcing winners.
    • Showcasing and marketing promotions related to the campaign.
  4. Unauthorized Use: Yahaha is not responsible for any unauthorized use of your entry by third parties (basically if your itch gets hacked, you can't blame them)

In summary, while you retain ownership of your game, Yahaha and its agents have extensive rights to use, modify, and promote your game and associate it with your personal information without further approval or compensation. But if you guys have any questions and concern, reach out on the discord.

Hello everyone,

Future Inspire Academy is excited to team up with Yahaha for our next game jam. It will be a three-day game jam starting on July 19th and ending on the 22nd. This is more of a casual game jam. We will still have a first place winner that can take home $40, but everyone else still has a chance to easily earn $30 just by creating a game using the Yahaha game engine and following some requirements. We will really appreciate the support the game development community can give us as more submissions is going to help the organization in funding too.

Our deal with Yahaha to give each qualifying participant $30 is only active if we hit 10 or more submissions so we need your help to spread the word. If we don't reach this goal, we will only have one winner.

Join the jam here: https://itch.io/jam/fia-x-yahaha-3-day-jam-available-for-everyone

Theme: In Reverse

FYI guys if you are looking for teammates to participate with, we have some members reaching out on our discord so make sure to check it out. Any person thinking of participating in the game jam is heavily encouraged to join the server to get more information and updates. One and a half days left!

Update:

I changed the h2 (section title) sizes to be a bit bigger and easier to see. Let me know what you guys think. Do you guys prefer titles to be sized and formatted like previous jams that we have done or do you like the new centered and enlarged look? Personally I like the new, fresh look

FYI guys I will not be in the US when the jam is taking place, so my Co-founder, Century will be the one judging the games. That's not really different from any of the other jams because he is always judging with me; he will just be the lone judger this time.

Hello community,

Future Inspire Jam is hosting our sixth game jam! We have made a ton of improvements after the last jam and we are excited to share them with you. We have reworked everything from how we advertise to balancing complexity to designing cleaner jam pages.

This will be a casual game jam with no limitations on the engine and tools you use. The winning team will earn $25 and each member will receive an asset of their choice from our sponsor and past Unity Asset Award Winner, Kronnect!

If we hit over 500 ratings during our public voting period, we will add an extra $25 to award the winning team!
