I believe that they are referring to scenes with no art commisioned/added yet to the game. Like before 0.76, sexual bellyrubs had no art and just showed a static picture of gomamon throughout the dialogues.
It does get unlocked first, or more easily. Maybe I could have designed that better among other things. Either way, chit-chat some more to unlock Explore for story progress and then you can go for Bonding. ^^

No problem. Btw, there's a weird bug where gomamon looks like this when starting new game. This is a second playthrough. The first playthrough, I played till finish, getting both lover ending and secret lover ending. I didn't reset gallery in 2nd playthrough.

Either way, I am commissioning a lot of pics per scene. And I mean a lot. 10 pics a scene? Not even close. 20, 30, 40. It can range widely, but always goes quite up, because I like the scenes to be really elaborate. The Clawfootjob in Explore will be 26 pictures for example. I am asking a lot from the artists, so that the game can deliver the best experience possible to the player, hence why it does take longer when I commission images.
Then you also have to take into account that the artists do not only draw for me exclusively. They have their own passions and projects they want to get to, so breaks between commissions that can be one month or more are not that rare as well.
Lastly, because the commissions are so elaborate, there is a chance of corrections being made. I have to review the images and see if everything is there that is needed as I implement them. Worst case scenario, I forget something important and there needs to be something else drawn as well which takes up additional time. Not something that happens too often, but the Slitrape one that is in the works right now? It sadly is one such case that needs a few more layers.
The artists are doing an incredible job in short and there is a lot I ask of them, so that my vision for the game can become a reality. I understand the frustration, but the game is being worked on and the game will be completed, even if the pace has been more slow lately.
So I have to ask for patience. The next update will be fruitful to make up for the long wait.

I came with Patron, and even though this version already existed, then a story happened, which led to you discontinuing support for Patron and not releasing updates for a long time. I felt disappointed because I remained without updates for a significant period of time. (At least, it's virus-free. I don't have any.)
There will be an update soon. It is simply that it takes time to Commission the art for this game. I definitely want to get a new build out sometime in April. By then I should have the ClawFootjob art for Explore.
Patreon's been nuking artists because they been policing how they should draw while outside the platform meaning he moved to subscribestar as per reason.
Technically, the MC is not an adult either. I think he is a year older than Joey? At least if I recall what I have written correctly. Not that it matters. We are all here for the fun. ^^

it definitely must have been because of the new patreon rules, recently they are taking down a lot of patreons with NSFW content, I just hope this doesn't discourage him from continuing to develop the game
The writing is done. No way, no how I will stop this game or give up on game development. I simply am going to set things up on SubscribeStar. I anticipated Patreon to take me down, albeit I expected that to happen far off in the future. It is quite sad how idiotic their rules are. They basically told me, they own my ass off-site too and took me down if I don't adhere to their rules outside of Patreon, which is ridiculous. Patreon can burn, just how they are burning their creators.
Patreon nuked me. Underage content off-site is a so-called violation. Either old MLP fics, pics or even pics on my Discord Server could have been the reason. I cannot say for sure. I will set up a SubscribeStar.
As a side note, I have put a lot more money in than what I have received. So I am in the red with the game, so there is no money with which I can run off with. xD

Maybe i've missed something, but i am able to 'do' certain scenes, but the animations won't show up during gameplay. Am i doing something wrong?

I do but sometime its got like bug for the image cause being playing it on joiplay in android for too long which I do on the files.
