The game is just a CANNON! My friend thought it was Minecraft until I told him it was your game! Good luck with your game creation!!

I just downloaded today and made this area.

I Can't Play The Game (Sometimes)

It only started when I Updated to 0.1.17, sometimes loading in a world will do that, sometimes it won't and the first time this happened I couldn't use my hotbar, but not this time. I am very confused.

A Video of the problem:

likely a background process or task, repost if it continues after checking and removing any background tasks or processes.

I don't know what it would be, still kinda confused

If it continues it is likely network related, otherwise I am assuming its background process  or task.

Fun, a couple strange black bars that appear and disappear here and there, but otherwise really cool! Here's a wall I built:

glitch distance view

(1 edit)

Came across this glitch

I'm on windows 10, I played the game for a little, created my second world, spawned in with blocks from the previous world, walked around for a hundred block, found an odd glitch, then my pc froze and I had to restart my pc. Picture of glitch below

java threading issue , final for each:  XX:+UseCriticalJavaThreadPriority  would solve this in a majority of cases. RedNumberz fixes that would work for your PC is changing java priority to higher(or reducing background operations).

ok, thank you

(1 edit)

here is the actual bug info so if it doesn't fix or you want to know more: <a href="<a href=" https:="" bugs.mojang.com="" browse="" mc-1794?filter="20315"">https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-1794?filter=20315</a>

Make the block break sound high pitch!
I having issue when hearing high bass sound and high pitch sounds for breaking block is more satisfy.

I can't see anything anymore

same

Sorry! For now, please use the 0.1.12 update while I look into this. Do you happen to be on linux with a integrated GPU? Please post your specs.

Idk about integrated GPU but I am on linux

Does this persist on 0.1.14?

It does not persist on 0.1.14 thank you.

extremely loud incorrect buzzer.

Neat little game.
Itch launcher failed on me, so I'll just leave here more detailed steps for any other elderly Linux/Ubuntu/Mint users.
To install java 17:
apt install openjdk-17-jdk openjdk-17-jre

Then due to space in the file name, run jar file with " ", if don't want to rename it:
java -jar "Cosmic Reach-0.1.11.jar"

I use Linux too, alternatively, just download openjdk tar, unzip it and run ./jdk-21-0/bin/java -jar "Cosmic Reach-version.jar"

Nice game!!!

first 0.1.10 and later 0.1.11 :)))

hey cool game my guy!

oo a world's menu cool

(+1)

baller game

(+1)

theres a random line of magma or lava that occasionally flashes on the screen.

(+1)

Found a bug. The game lets you uncrouch when crouching under a 1 and a half block tall space, which gets you stuck in the slab above you. Minecraft handles this by simply not letting the player uncrouch in such a circumstance.

(+2)

had to do it :D

i had the same idea lol i just didn't finish it and didn't like how it looked

I don't get it 🤔

(+3)
The ability to build custom spaceships would be very befitting for this game.

im proud to be here for the beginnings of what will be a great game and i love the pre alpha so far

-XX:+UseStringDeduplication -XX:+OptimizeStringConcat -XX:+UseCriticalJavaThreadPriority

Here is java arguments that you will probably need eventually.

lovely game, am stoked for what's to come!

(+11)

I don't wanna brag but I already finished the game

(+1)

this is so fun! you should add multipyer and then a redstone like system

thank you.

Listen. I hate to nag, I really do.

However.

I despise Discord.

Just verify using your email.

(+2)(-1)

I don't use Discord and I never will.

(+1)

I 2nd this, having to go through hoops with discord is an unholy pain.

(+1)

Yes, i don't use discord either.

I'd like to report a bug; see images below.
When I look through a non-full block, the block-highlighting correctly selects the block behind it, however, when I try to place a block against that surface, the block will be placed on top of the non-full block instead. (The top slab is the one I try to place against the wall, looking through the bottom slab)

I suggest going to the issues section on the GitHub page!

One small thing I'd recommend is making the world seed (and maybe other things) use case-insensitive base 64 instead of base 10
You can store more numbers in a smaller format using base 64 and its easier to write down for users. (could maybe use something custom too)

It'd made reading and writing seeds from things like YouTube videos a lot easier (if a lets-player shares their world seed or something) since a player would only have to copy down something like "4S25B9" instead of "29419219429194242"

I've been watching since the first video, and I'm liking where this is going. I haven't given any feedback, so I'm not really helping the community, but I do hope this gets big! Furthermore, I'll be waiting for Multiplayer support, and then that happens I'll happily play with friends and give feedback that I could think would be useful.

(+2)

Been watching the series since the beginning. The demo is awesome!

(+1)

Y aligned (up and down) log slabs have their textures upside down, meaning they dont tile with the full log block

(+5)

I built this...

(+5)

this is a little nit picky but a mouse Sensitivity slider setting would be nice.

(+2)

Hey, how would you feel about a block set, that allows you to input any rgb color value, maybe including alpha?

It would be really cool if he had some form of redstone system later on to control those dynamically!

People could make entire computers in this game then, with working RGB screens. Close impossible in Minecraft!

Please add your version changelog to itch! I'm very confused on what all the updates add to the game. Version 1.3 finally adds black lamps and boomboxes that emit 1 noise?

(+2)

The black lamps are turned off white lamps. You can right click with an empty stot to toggle.

Changelogs are in the Discord, I copied them here:

Cosmic Reach 0.1.3 is out!

  • Introduced Block Events, Triggers and Actions
  • Fixed a bug where one of the faces on the default cube was flipped

One side of the block is flipped

Cosmic Reach 0.1.2 is out!

  • Pressing screenshot will notify you the file name
  • Removing mods no longer corrupts the world! Feel free to add and remove mods as you wish!
  • Added world selection screen
  • Inventory no longer duplicates items across pages https://github.com/FinalForEach/Cosmic-Reach-Issue-Tracker/issues/104
  • Improved the default mouse sensitivity for wide screen resolutions

Cosmic Reach 0.1.1 is out

  • Small hotfix that fixes the last item in the item catalog being unable to be added to the hotbar

Thanks for this! So looks like he's getting somewhat of a start on a few features like Redstone then. Looks like we're one step closer to doors, which I hope we get because all my houses are missing doors and it just looks wrong.

I had no idea the black lamps were turned off white lamps! Anyways a black block has been necessary for a while now especially for pixel art.

Also, only white lamps can be turned off? That's very odd.

Hopefully in the future, this doesn't mean that lamps require a power source, it would suck if they did especially now considering that we've been placing loads of lamp slabs and lamp blocks everywhere. Perhaps redstone-like lamps should be their own thing.

Maybe you could have lamps that require power, and through some advanced wiring system, you could control what colour they emit, allowing for advanced ingame displays or something.

Perhaps Redstone in Cosmic Reach could go above binary and wires could carry different types of data, unlike Redstone.

(1 edit) (+5)

I'm sorry! It's very difficult for me to be everywhere all at once.

EDIT: 0.1.3 was a very important update for modders in particular, feature wise it was lacking

(+2)

You gave us the choice between redstoneLike and multiplayer, and I think that long term the multiplayer is by far most important. However I also want just a little bit more (mechanics wise, or block palette wise) in the game before asking my friends (family) to play with me as their time is quite limited. So I'd personally choose redstone (my favorite part of the minecraft) unless a decent number of decorative blocks are being added soon.

(+2)

We definitely could use more deco blocks, my house is looking so empty right now.
