you should be able to extract it by pressing right click on the zipped folder and press extract all. Or you can view the "View option" above and press extract all.
well if you have win rar it is just opening it, clivking extract and selevting the folder you want to extract it to, or you can do like another person said in the comments
The game controls are a little hard to do. I've been pressing "z" over and over to confirm an order to the chefs, but it wont work. Which leads me to never get the day done. Am I doing something wrong or is the game buggy?
I saw this was the same person who made 'Elevator hitch' and lost my mind. I LOVE that game. And I love games where you can buy things, I haven't even played the darn thing yet and I'm hyped

The controls are incredibly hard to work. This was the first game I got on my pc but the move and click actions that need to be precise make it finicky and unable to do much if any gameplay.
Along with that, the waiting times the customers have seems much too short, especially when the controls aren't working for the computer.
overall this is a very fun game though and there's so much work that has been put into the game I just hope there might be a controls update soon!!
i got so used to the controls that it will make me confused XD. but the wait times are only short on day 6, mainly the old guys, they are super hard to keep there, i never managed to keep them and the other guys, allways loose one of the 4, even with the colone

(no idea if this is even necessary on mac this is purely windows. it might not properly match up with some computers ui's so sorry in advance i am just a guy on the internet. i'm running windows 11 so you might need to take different steps than me. sorry for that i am a windows 7 girlie through and through my laptop is just new. exceedingly thorough for no good reason but the autism)
1. Make sure that you have a shortcut to the game, since that's what we're setting the icon of! (read substeps to make a shortcut)
1a. Go to your file explorer and select downloads
1b. Open the folder named 'Dead Plate (19)' (make sure you select the unzipped one!)
1c. Right click on the file named 'Game' (NOT 'Game.exe')
1d. Select 'Create Shortcut' (if you can't see this initially select 'Show More Options' first!)
1e. Move the shortcut to your desktop (hold left-click on it and move it to the desktop section)
1f. To change the shortcut's name go to your desktop (see step six) or select the desktop section in your file explorer; find the shortcut, right-click it, select 'Rename', and input the name you want for it followed by the enter key; if you followed step six you might be able to double-click on the name to change it, and if you're in file explorer it might be bound to F2 (make sure you've clicked on the shortcut before pressing F2)
2. Find a website that will convert .png to .ico files (i used this because it was the first option i found)
3. Set the size to 128 x 128 pixels, since this is the original file's size
4. Choose your file
4a. When it opens your file explorer select downloads

On the table in your apartment there should be something that looks like a magazine next to the phone, if you interact with it you'll be able to buy items.
I do recommend this, the only problem is the controls. Sometimes I have to double click and with the time limit, it makes the came extremely frustrating. Plot and characters are perfect, but the controls make me angry. I would also prefer the WASD keys instead of the arrow keys too, definitely not use to this kind of gameplay, but its still fun. Been spending awhile on shift 6...
So, you can only place at a certain angle, aka from above or on top of the table, and you have to click up or down depending on which table and press Z.
I dowloaded the game for Mac but it won't let me continue past the choosing when to come in screen (5:30 for tutorial, 6:00 for skip and sleep in for auto progress) it just says "UnknownError: Error: EROFS: read-only file system, mkdir" and then some more stuff I don't get,
is there sm I can do to get it to work? thank you!

Does anyone else have problems with the game not launching? I wanted to play it on my Steam Deck, I have played other Itch.io games on Steam Deck without a problem, but no matter what I do, the game won't launch. I tried playing it on my laptop today and had the same problem.
Been a fan of Studio Investigrave since Eloquent Countenance so you can imagine how thrilled I was to recognize the art style when this game began getting popular after release. Aside from a few control issues, Dead Plate is a pure DELIGHT to play !!! Ended up doing a full playthrough over night, lost track of time, and STILL don't regret the accidental all-nighter because of the storyline :]] I'm super excited to see what the next project will be and if anyone is reading this, HIGHLY suggest playing the game and supporting the creators !! :DD

I love the story and the game is well made. The horror was not what made me cry. I was sobbing and apologizing to pixel customers because I am but one man trying to serve them all fast enough. I was failing miserably. I am very much not good at this. That is a personal skill issue. The game is 10/10.
I usually don't leave comments on games I've played.. BUT SERIOUSLY, HOW COULD I NOT?? The characters were fleshed out, the soundtrack was a banger, and the overall gameplay mechanic was addicting.. After I finished the game I was seriously second guessing in deleting it since I haven't had that much enjoyment in a such a short indie game. Absolutely wonderful game, devs!
i have this issue where sometimes once the clients are done and are ready to pay, they just stand beside their table and I'm unable to check them out or interact with them in any way, so they end up leaving without tipping. Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just doing something wrong lol

not sure how you're trying to give the chefs the orders, but the way that you're meant to do it is to interact with the lever looking thing by the shelf with curtains. if it doesn't work you might need to press the up arrow then the interact key so the game knows what you're trying to interact with.
if you've been doing all that i have no advice for you lol
Absolutely LOVE this game. The art, characters, story, and the game play is so much fun. I love diner style games and the horror elements were wonderful!
Main issues I have tho, really need that bug fixed where you can't interact with stuff unless ur like, cornered to them. makes interacting with tables and people really hard/tedious/waste seconds trying to find the sweet spot.
Second, the keyboard controls are, in my opinion, awful. Maybe it's because I'm used to WASD and any right sided buttons being the interact buttons, but arrow keys for movement, then Z,X, and left shift for sprint for the left hand? Totally made everything more challenging than necessary... I recommend letting players re-map buttons for comfort if possible. Also controller compatibility would absolutely MAKE this game for me <3

adored this game, fully completed it in one sitting i was that hooked! amazing visuals and soundtrack and really fun characters! tycoon gameplay was a good level of challenging too imo- totally recommend !!! <3
i dont get the call?.. i did all the actions required up until day 5 unknowingly in my first playthrough and got the first ending, i re-did the game from zero in a seperate file just to make sure, re-did all the actions claimed as needed in the official guide, currently on day 7 and i cannot enter the freezer.
I need help, I don't know if i'm just dumb but I downloaded the game and when I get to the tutorial I can't walk. My WASD Keys aren't doing anything, the only key that works is the X

Hit the "up" directional button and then hit the "z" key (or while you're hitting the "z" key). That's what worked for me!
I found that using the spacebar worked a lot better!
