Hi! Im on a MacBook Air right now and everytime i open up the "main" file it just shows a bunch of code and "Procces Completed" but nothing else happens. What do i do? please comment i really really want to play this game :(
For anyone who is having troubles on their clan saves:
reinstall the game and just click on the game file- click main and extract files. now, you play. when your finished playing, spam save clan and go to the menu. select the clan you want to play next time [you can select the same clan].
If it doesn't work, I'm sorry, your windows might be hacked or outdated or under the working windows verison. this is just what worked for me-
edit: how to extract:
1: just open the file and hopefully it'll ask you to extract the file before playing. if it doesn't load up, just double click on the main. Now you can play the game.
2: click once on the main, and it might show extract. if it does, click it. after it extracts, double click on the main.
second edit:
if the first thing doesn't work, go to downloads. There should be a file of the game without the zipper thing. Delete the one with the zipper and click on the one without it. If the main asks you to extract, don't. Just click more info and click run away.
If this doesn't help, your prob. going to be out of luck playing it.
'Mentor' tab when selecting the leader, medicine cat, or a warrior. One of these cats can mentor a cat in the apprentice category, so when they go out on patrol with their assigned mentor, they might learn that skill when they become warriors.
'Train' tab- this tab would feature near the selection tab patrol or events. It would make a warrior train with another warrior so hopefully the training warrior might learn the mentoring warrior's skill. The mentoring warrior's kit chance for the next moon would lower and their death chance could be increased.
Kit stealing. Rouges/loners and other clans could steal one of your kits which would be really rare. Enemy warrior is randomly featured in the 'Clan' tab going towards a kit. If there's any warrior in camp it would move toward the enemy. The enemy warrior would poof/die when it gets too close.
Elders Idea: Cat gets crippled- they get paralyzed- so said cat cannot be a warrior, but, if said cat got lost a leg, they should still be a warrior, now they would just have a 'Retire' tab when in their profile. Cats at 120 moons should start to have 'Retire' tab, and not become elders until this is clicked. Missing a leg and being older than 120 and still be a warrior, should have a higher death chance on patrols and events.
Rouge raid: Two to five enemy cats enter the camp. Warriors, leader, and deputy would go towards the cats, getting attacked. At about 5-8 seconds, a rouge should be gone, but the cat defending could randomly gain a scar. If the cat keeps getting attacked, they could die at twenty seconds or randomly gain a scar.
Achievements: Random little things so you can get things to customize cats like flowers and vines to the cats or get things to place in camp, like every three deaths you get two bramble thickets that can ki|| enemy cats or can be broken by enemy cats by random. This tab could be under settings possibly in the menu.
Clan editor: Edit the clan camp? You'd be able to get things like rocks, vines, prey items, flowers, and bramble thicket like mentioned above.
Achievement idea #1: you've had 100 six cat patrols.
Achievement idea #2: one cat survives 35 patrols straight, with no other members.
I love the game so far but I noticed that it doesn’t give me the option to send any cats on patrol (the tab isn’t there), promote a cat to deputy, select an apprentice as medicine cat, see the family of a cat, or kill cat? There’s an empty space where the options are supposed to be. Everything else seems to run smoothly tho
I downloaded the mac version and when I open it I get a folder with the sprites, main, ext. But when I open the main it brings me to an editable terminal.. I can't find anything on how to fix this or run it differently.
I dont know how to run it- Im on windows, do I do the source code? Because the Aug 1 release for windows when I press extract files doesn't show really anything. Idk what to do Edit:

my one issue is that sometimes the game doesn't alert me on the events page when cats die. this seems to happen most often when cats die of old age. it doesn't always happen, and i can't seem to find any specific cause or trigger. just something you might wanna check out!
ETA; sometimes it doesn't alert me on the events page of other things such as kits being born, apprentices/warriors gaining their new name, etc. i only noticed the lack of death alerts beforehand, but now i've seen more things not getting posted on the events tab
join the discord im not sure how many people look here anymore, and theres so many people asking for help but you will get a quicker response on there. it runs on windows and mac only and you have to extract the file and click on the floppy disk that says "main" and it should run if you have the right computer system.
How do you extract? I can't figure it out! I downloaded, and right clicked the zip-file, but I saw nothing showing EXTRACT. so i believe im on a windows ten and everytime i run the game i can name my clan and choose the cats but the done button is perfectly covered up by my task bar. when i try to move the taskbar to the left right or even the top of the screen the game adjusts itself so that i still cant press the done button. even when i hide the taskbar i cant see the done button. i also cant full screen or adjust the size or placement of the game and it's very annoying. i have seen many people play this game and it looks really fun! i just wish i could have fun playing it too :(
ok so i have it dowloaded and extracted, i can name the clan, and choose the cats, but when i say done it says error tells me that theres something wrong with it, it then imidietly closes and i don't know what to do, should i just re-dowload it?
I have two small fixes I feel this game could use, both pertaining to the leaders, when my leader of the clan dies in an event or by me killing them the deputy doesn’t take over as leader and I need to manually assign a new leader and it doesn’t allow the deputy to be promoted. Also, I think a tell of how many lives a leader has would be really helpful as well!

I downloaded Python and Pygame but I can't open the game, what am I doing wrong?? When i open it i just see the codes and stuff. (using Mac) I clicked main.py
We have the same problem as EnigmaFlower. After downloading, opening and unzipping the files and then opening the Main application .exe file, I get the message:
Unhandled exception in script. Failed to execute script 'main' due to an unhandled exception: No file 'sprites/lineart.png' found in working directory 'C:\Users\mgwoo\Downloads'
I see this .png file is in the Sprites folder in the downloaded release. Any suggestions how to get this to work?
Hello! I'm not sure if this is a usual problem but as I went to open the file after following instructions for downloading and extracting it, I go to open the file to play and it tells me "File Script Error".
I love the game and watch it so much on YouTube but the game just wont work for me and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong-
cool story! so an apprentice died in a dog attack, and the warrior with her got a scar. But that was no ordinary apprentice. It was the leader's daughter. and after the patrol, the leader was moping around. 4 moons later, and i do a patrol with the leader on it. She found the dog. and won.

Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but I've been playing this game for a while and I have some recommended updates! I don't have any coding experience, and this is all completely optional, but I want this game to be the best it can be! These may also already be on your to-do list, but here we go!
- I wish we could assign apprentices to mentors
- There should be a confirmation window before you click "kill" (I've accidentally killed many of my clan cats by clicking this button ><)
- When a cat passes away I would like to be able to see that a cat is still mates with a cat that is already dead (i.e. I open up the details of a cat, click "pick mate for _____", and I can easily see that they are mates with a cat that is dead)
- More variety in patrol events like interactions with kittypets (this can be more optional since there are already a lot of events!)
- Leaders should show how many of their lives they have left and shouldn't be killed instantly
- Prey is accounted for each season and depending on how much you're able to catch each season it affects the likelihood of cats dying off
- Maybe limit the amount of kits can be born/amount of cats a clan can have (there was a season where I had 4 queens produce 12 kits in total o-o),
- Camp invasions from neighboring clans or even rogues if you don't have many warriors in camp after letting them all patrol
- Events where clan members leave to be a rogue or kittypet
- Lastly, making sure there are consistently only 3 other clans that you can interact with on patrols! (To me, it doesn't make sense that I interact with completely different clans each time I patrol a border?)
Thank you very much for working on this! I love this game already, but I figured ideas would be welcome ^-^ And if I have any other recommendations I'll be sure to voice them!
If it won't let you even download it, it is probably because an antivirus of some sort is automatically detecting it. If that is the issue just temporarily disable it so you can download it.
The Mac release doesn't seem to be working for me, it comes up with a folder and has a file that says "main" And when its opened instead of opening the game it comes up with a page of code, is anyone else having this problem?
Everything was working nice, could select the cats for the clan but when i click done it gives off a error and force closes the game. ;-; tried like 4 times but keeps doing the same error

It can't run on your Mac, you have to use the source version (also try the beta release first)

Sounds like you might have downloaded the original version, not the fan edit. Make sure you are downloading it from itch.io
There's two bugs id like to report!
1 - Every time I start, a starclan cat spawns. Trying to interact with said cat crashes the game and deletes all progress
2 - I decided to kill off a bunch off kits due to having too many mouths, and clicking the 'kill' button the third time, it crashed.
Spam save and go to menu. Click continue and then click on the StarClan cat. It should be a new cat, and it shouldn't crash you. Hopefully this helps.
Kill tab lags the game- I accidently clicked kill once and it froze my game for a few seconds.

download winrar (free program, it will say ur trial is over but just exit that popup) you will then get the extract option
you need a zip exta ractor. theres some on browser without a need to download. Just google unzip or zip extractor
Oi, just load the main file up. It should ask you to extract files after a few times of trying to open the main up. Good luck.

The deputy will become leader the moon after, which doesn't make much sense, but the game has to register it that way...I do hope they fix it though!

So i tried using this on my Chromebook which runs ChromeOS and it didn't work
that is because this can only run on Windows and Mac. (plus Linux if you run the source version or use Wine)

oh yep, I didn't even see that. This advice still applies to Macs with M2 chips apparently though

Same problem. It sucks because I was looking forward to playing it. Hopefully they fix this soon.
you can try executing it from the terminal. open the terminal in the same folder and enter './main'
im sorry but i really dont understand what that means, how would i enter anything?

This is only playable on desktop computers, I have heard that they are working on getting a port out to web, but for now you can't.
my question is how to save, cause there's no save button, and the events page says it doesn't auto save

i selected all of the files and dragged them into the (folder? i don't know what its called) named 'desktop', then it worked.

You could try to install Python 2.8.x and Pygame via pip to play the source version I think though
