If I was in this story I think the first thing I'd do is hire someone to develop a body suit and helmet that connected to the game without the needle in you neck. Having the pain feel real, even when it's a critical hit, like a stab in the eye or chest is a deal breaker. No way a kid or even most teens could handle that. The mental and emotional scarring alone would be insane. People would be a wreck after that. You'd have a slight advantage of not feeling pain as others do but playing the game with a suit that didn't mimic real pain. And it would still require skill and practice.
It would be enough for me to simply play the game with a suit that vibrated or warmed up in spots on my body to let me know I was interacting with the game. Like a vibration to show you were hot in the back of warning the hand to show you picked up a warm mug. And worse since some server have illegal content like rape and murder of kids, being trapped in one of those with no exit, you might not even escape fast enough to tell the authorities. In a way, a person could trap you in the game and torture you without doing critical damage until you begged them to stop and promised not to tell on them. There's already been cases where the cops of the game didn't show up to save people in need of help right away. Even tho the game is designed to protect people against being abused and trolled by being murdered and raped or tortured.
I Just think a real sicko must be behind the game if they can be a founder of a game that doesn't stop people from being able to go too far automatically. Like if a person is breaking a rule, instead of Praetorans coming, that person is forcefully logged out of the game and unable to ever log on again. Ever. That would stop child porn server and rapists for sure.
I love the comedy and the cast personalities. And the game looks great. But I just can't get into the idea that so much of this game, made by a multi-million dollar company is shady as hell. If you think about it for even a second it doesn't add up unless the live in a bleak dark future where the government and common man gives no F**KS.
If you were a parent and you 17 yr old logged off a game and cried in your arms that a crazy lady held her at gun point and told her to suck a guy off. Wouldn't you stop and NOTHING to find out what the company let that happen? What if you got in the game and you're 33 and a bunch of 19 yr old women tell you they're gonna help you level up bc you're new. But they just lure you to an OP player who humiliates you on your first day and tortured you and then kills you. Would you just log off and say "oh well guess this game was money well spent. Best $2500 I've ever spent."
My theory is that besides social commentary that the writer of the game is trying to mimic unfair crap in dark souls paired with trolling on the net and apathetic admins and mods. But it still doesn't add up that this game would make crazy money and not have long line of scarred for life players losing their mind for being stabbed in the chest everytime they log on. One guy gets his head smashed. Did he feel that? Wouldn't that crush his will to play the game?
I played Once In A Lifetime a month or so ago and thought it was alright. While the story was kinda meh in my opinion, and I didn't like how two girls basically had the same face, I do like the quirky sense of humor with the meta jokes here and there. Also, impreg is kinda my biggest fetish so its a plus.
Eternum is basically a huge leap forward. I actually find the story very intriguing and the setting is also pretty cool. A mix of Sword Art Online with Ready Player One. The character models are great and the h-scenes are solid as well. The MC still looks kinda weird but I'd say he looks much better. And despite all that, the sense of humor from Once In A Lifetime still persists.
This is my favorite visual novel so far. Both the plot and the art are impeccable. Its story is very attractive, and its characterization is also very successful. Each character is very vivid. I really fell in love with those girls~

Quite simply one of the best AVNs ever made. Cannot think of a real criticism. The animations are unbelievable for RenPy and the genre as a whole, looks amazing. The polish in general is just so good. Even the fact that its essentially a game about romantic LARPing but doesnt feel cringe or out of touch in the least. Dude definitely earned all 3500 of his patrons, cut his teeth on one of the best AVNs ever and stepped up his game twofold for this one.
It's the comedy that's the best sell for the game. And the improved models over the course of the games he's made. The first one had good ones but this one had way better. And in terms of comedy it's meta without fully breaking 4th wall. For example, a running theme in erotic games is that women will obsess over huge penises and freeze in their tracks. This happens a lot in this and his earlier game. And tons more. Since that's a huge gimmick, they even turned it into a joke in this game. When there's a serious moment where everyone needs to focus and do their job, the one monkey wrench in the plan is a girl ignoring all life threatening events because a huge penis is near her. Satire like that touches on two level. A jab at ero VNs in general, and a jab at the running gag in Caribdis' games. Plus it is even more of a heckle of spaz characters like "manick pixie dream girls" who can sometimes be too quirky for their own good.
Some of the these server idea and all the rule changing that comes from it seems a lot like Kingdom Hearts. Especially when they change how you look or what weapons you're ALLOWED to use.
So far it's a super intriguing game, not because of the mature content, but because of the context of the story.
The character designs and graphics are also fantastic. Though I have to ask, did Dalia's facial features change? According to me, the change began after the adventure with Nova in the temple of Maat, specifically in the part where they talk about the water butterflies. Then I noticed more the change in the scenes where they meet on the Rome server, and I became even more convinced that something changed in Dalia, in the last scenes of the game, when they meet in a house to study the robbery plan. . . . . .
In my personal opinion, I really liked Dalia's design at the beginning of the game, for example when we are introduced to Dalia and Penelope, in the school scenes and in the pool scenes when we are introduced to Alex.
For me, the initial Dalia design was my favorite.

And she is just one of 3 brown characters with no redeeming qualities. Like Ben and Willaim Bardot. I was hoping she was romance option but not just a cruel femme fatale.

If someone logs into Eternum, even tho it's an MMO, you can't see names or stats? How do you know if an enemy is too strong for you. At one point in the game a character said they had a fake name in the game. How? And when would someone see it? When they scanned her or selected her in the game as she walked around?
If a person dies in the game, can they remake their stats and go walk up to their own dead body? EDIT Ogygia is best arc so far. I just found out that's a ref to Odyssey. I thought is was an a server when there was a never ending orgy.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the MC is trying to do with his character build. Why doesn't he focus and play a RPG class? Why can't you bring whatever gear you want to whatever server you want. If you get great gear in Red Herring, are you not allowed to have it in another server? That's nonsense.
I don't understand how exp is given to him. And I saw a fight scene but who know what was gained from it. Maybe the idea is to just pick one server and always stay there and become a OP badass there and only there. THe MC Orion never seems to get better at fighting or magic or anything. He kinda just talks to people and because he's simply there, quests progress and get solved. But who knows what his level is.

Holy shit... what if it's a time loop. Some small things change but it's all cylindrical. Here's another theory: The MC, Orion, made Eternum but Eternum is about a VR of him eventually coming up with the skill and inspiration of wanting to make it in the first place. The women in his life inspired The Eternum Lady and Preatoran and Chang inspire Chop-Chop. And now, having alienated himself from all his friends IRL, he is playing Eternum to try and see the memories of their lives before he became the Founder. The game shows the past, mimicking the early days of them playing MMOs together.
I'm starting to wonder if what makes Eternum so popular is a drug-like euphoria gained from playing it. Like in the code. People often say they can't take their mind off it. And realistically how would a game take over an economy without something else at play? I guarantee you that Eternum is just another cult and like all successful cults, it subtly brainwashes the people to think they can't live without it. Remember how WOW had people quitting their jobs just to play it, even tho doing so would mean having no money to pay for it?

I feel greedy trying to push away guys from all the women, but I confess I do like almost all of them. It was the same way in Once in a Lifetime. But I feel like a bad guy. What right do I have to ruin another's love life chances when I'm already in love with another woman anyway. SMH I don't know. That's my theory. There's no way the main character can trigger important events just from starting the game. As if quests and mysteries were all on hold until he got there. The hints are all there. "That never happened before. I never saw her before." Why would NPCs suddenly step forward and give more hints on a quest that was never solved before then? But now it suddenly has more clues when the MC shows up? It's like they said in Disgaea 2, "maybe the only reason you weren't turned into a monster is because you're the main character."
The main character is playing an offline game. All the girls in it that he loves are just NPCs. "They remember you. It's hard to tell who's a player and an NPC." And quests activate and progress when he's around because he's a player and the ONLY player. "(voice like All-Might) You can move on in a quest, BECAUSE I AM HERE!" He just forgot that he wipes his memory, and that he is playing a game when he starts (which he did for immersion, like in that Dragon Quest animated movie). " Hey, bored with playing games and always winning? You want full immersion and you're the founder or veteran player of a game? Memory wipe and play with no weapons and and only your allies are OK at the game, but no one is OP."

At the end of the game I bet the MC is alone and forced to accept that he got so into immersion of Eternum that he fell in love, not just with the game, but the NPC love interests he made in it as well. And so he deletes the game and decides to go have real relationships again.
I remember secret ending in "Once in a Lifetime". Well... This world is just another server from Eternum. And MC from Eternum played as MC from OIAL, but he didn't know it until he left the game. So, your words may be true. But I wanna think that both games (Eternum & OIAL) are not just random servers from "Eternum". I prefer to think that both games exist in the same world. Otherwise we wouldn't have seen mentions of Stabby Mike in the Eternum.
What secret ending? I messed up the romance story line of the teach and Judie, so maybe I didn't get the perfect ending. I was being too nice and the game assumed I didn't want to date them. By the time I saw I was locked out, it was too late. And I only had one save file.
If the MC of OIAL is the same as Eternum's, I can buy that secret ending idea that both games are just servers in the same giant MMO. But I still think OIAL happened. The book didn't help the cult take over. And the cult is reffed (referenced) in the game, Eternum (with a newpaper and some dialogue). I think Eternum is just another cult's way of taking over since witchcraft and cloak and dagger stuff didnt' work.
President Stabb is I think still president, but I only here about him when the MC is at school or around town. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is play Eternum. In this game Chang and Chop-Chop seem to be the "Stabby Mike" character. So i'm doubting Stabby shows up.
I think both games exists too. But I think OIAL ends where Eternum begins and Eternum is a lingering problem from the time in OIAL. Something the MC didn't notice that was allowed to thrive.
You have to fail at trying to have an affair with someone. Then at the end of the game, the MC from Eternum will shut down the game and talk to Dalia, who will laugh at the fact that the MC didn't have any girlfriends even in the game.
Wow. So if you go thru the who game and never have sex or a romance you get a huge meta teaser for the next game... Does that mean OIAL is the game Orion made when he was 14?

I just found out about that server in the game. I just didn't know who that Blue hair girl is. Last I heard you always look just like you do IRL in the game. So how would she have blue hair? A ton of dye? And then she grew it out for what? 20 years?
I've seen American Psycho. But not all the way from start to finish. I remember him killer hookers for no reason with a chainsaw. Then the iconic lines at the end when he pretends to be normal and not insane.
If your strength IRL determines what you are strong as in the game, then what does that mean for people who are sickly? Can they only be mages or gunners? I get the appeal of making people exercise before playing the game to be stronger in the game. But I don't understand what a person would do if they sucked at working out. Even I bike and walk everywhere and lift heavy boxes all the time in a warehouse. But there are people so weak from their own genes and body type that I can't see them being able to do much in Eternum. Even if they loved fighters, they'd be stuck playing a range class, right?
Its one of the best games I think I've ever played. Caribdis you've really outdone yourself. Overall I would rate this game a good 10/10. The story is really interesting and the graphics knocked my socks off when I saw it. Perhaps one of the best visual novel games I've seen. Thank you kindly for this game.

Just finished. I created an account just to leave a review. I'm amazed at this game. Really really well thought out. Love all the references and homage to other titles. Story line reminds me of Ready Player One with a dark twist and the happens to be one of the characters favorite movies. The Hogwarts bit was hilarious. Really looking forward to .04. I will definitely support. Continue making the characters feel unique and keep making the relationship with the MC unique and individual to each different person. I have only 1 suggestion. More real time fight decisions like the gladiator scene. That would improve the "play" aspect of the game. I enjoyed every min. Thank you for your work.

Hi Caribdis, I just finished the game after obsessed it for 2 days, now I'm hyped for the 0.4 update, so while waiting I think I'll write a little review, I'm no native english speaker so spare me on my grammars, this also contain a little spoiler if anyone else reading this before playing the game.
First: let's talk about our Main Character, right after I started the game there's something I kinda don't like, the MC or I'd say Orion hair, like damn that hair looks weird, I get used to it after playing a little, but he's a great character, his attitude with the girls is very cute and deserve the harem for himself, typical nice guy for you and I'll kill that son of a bitch that wanna hurt my girl MC, which indeed one of my favorite type of MC. I also like his power, I don't wanna spoil the game so I just wanna say I'd love to dive more about it in the future, the 100% compatibility is a nice touch to make him special but come on, BUFF MY BOI MORE.
All the senarios choices is great but I think a little bit more situations to choose is gonna be fun since the story has become more serious so our MC should give out more decisions that will affect the game, in good and bad ways. Overall, I like him, he's one of the Adult MCs that I actually like. But I still don't like his hair, sorry...it's my thought.
The story of the game is outstanding for a porn game, the depth of it is so good, but I don't like the fact that collecting the gems is being rush a little too fast, maybe you should increase the number of the gems, like the eternum game have 4000 servers ( from what I remember ) and only 10 gems ? that's wayyyyy to low man, don't get me wrong, the more rare the more hard but 5 had been found and then 2 in a couple of chapter, that's a little too fast, I don't really want this game to end that soon.
Second: about the girls, they are fcking adorable, all of them, have their own personalities, hobby, which make the game feel more fun trying to interact with them, I'm no expert in game reviewing but I can tell you doing a very great job breathing life into the character, also I really wanna know who's gonna be the last girl, how exciting!
Third: let's talk about the race, since the eternum ( the game in the game, kekw this is weird ) is a global game I kinda want to see more asian and black people, i'm no racist ( heck I'm asian myself ) so having more varieties will make the game feel more globally,I know we already got Chang, Benjamin, AND MY BOI CHOP-CHOP AYEEEEEEEEEEE, but they are just for comedy and story, in fact Benjamin is a dick so it will be nice if we have a black guy ( or even better a girl ) that's positive to Orion and help him through his journey.
Finally, I'll say that the game is a total banger, there's a lot to improve, I wanna support your patreon but I'm kinda in-debt right now lol, BUT I'll definitely support you in the future, overall the game is very worth playing! p/s: for those who's wanna play the game for a quick fap with some cute 3d girls, please, this masterpiece is not for that, find another porno game

Okay, while waiting for the next chapter, I'll try an honest review of the current ones. Not a native english speaker, so please forgive me for eye injuries.
First of all: as a girl, I'm not a huge fan of a single male character having a female harem (I'd rather have the opposite, but it's sadly not common in such games).
But: your girls are cute, with interesting backstories, and most of them are legit badass, so it's way better than in other harem games. And Orion's behaviour seems to deserve their attention, which not all MC can boast.
In fact I even can't say which of the girls is my favourite so far, they're all too good to choose!
About diversity: almost all characters are white people. But not all. The few exceptions being ChipChop and Chang, asians, that are mainly used for the comic relief and thus quite ridiculous, and mainly Benjamin, black, and an absolute asshole (not sure about Maat, she looked more tanned than black, but she's not exactly a positive role either, so…)
I think it's problematic. But it's quite simple to correct: there's a lot of bit players everywhere. You just have to make some of them visibly non-white, and it'll work way better (noticed there was one other black guy in the groups introduction, but we saw almost only his back in shadow, and I can't remember seeing him again later).
About the main character: Orion is cool. Not particularly handsome or endearing, but pretty good for the role. To be honest, I think the MC's look was the main issue of Once in a lifetime, but this one is just fine.
I'm not a huge fan of the big dick trope, but I have to admit you did some good use of it, especially the scene with Nancy while Orion was sleeping, which was funny.
I'm not sure about the suit. Not that I dislike it (well, I think it looks weird, but that's just a matter of taste), but it's weirdly used: you start by telling “It's not required but recommended”, and then it looks more like “It's absolutely unnecessary unless I want to show you a girl in it”.
I was a bit disappointed by finding a gem of doom and two thirds of the weapons of Atlas in the second chapter, which, at first, looked like long-term achievements coming way too quickly. But, of course, with the gem gone soon after and Calypso being what she is, the third chapter was reassuring about the game's length.
That was the lukewarm points. So now, let's see the really good parts.
I often only smile playing humorous games. You did make me laugh a few time. So, well done! Along the same lines, I'm not a huge fan of horror scenes, especially in adult games, but I didn't dislike yours, which is quite an achievement :-)
Really good work on the sound atmosphere, and good choice of musics. I didn't know Snake City before, and now I'm listening Run Boy Run while writing this. Not sure the lyrics really match the scene for this one, thought, but it does sound really good.

Great work on the different worlds (including Kredon), althought we didn't (for now, I guess) saw much about Ion and Ekabar. I thought from chapter 1's dialogues those two were supposed to be the most used, and finally not so much (yet). But most of those you introduced are really good and I'm curious to learn more about them.
(As I'm not really into cyberpunk, I was dubious about the neural implant when I first read the synopsis, but you managed it well, so it allows a wide diversity of worlds in a credible way, which is really cool.)
Magic effects are really good. Can't wait to see Annie's abilities (she looked really cool in the first time in Ion, but didn't have the occasion to do more than a show off for now).
The HP's parody (ouch, sorry, professor, won't say that again!) was really fun (except for the frog, poor Penny). I wonder it the trio of summoners will be seen again or not.
And, well… there's too much good scenes. When Orion tells Annie he likes her (really cool thing he asked before kissing!). That poor guy at the yoga club. Nancy punching back the Emperor. Alex's grandma (almost cried). The first meeting with Luna.
Not a huge fan of the need to punch Axel each time the choice is given, but, heh, it's Axel, so he had it coming (on the very first meeting, I first choose to be polite before we saw his “conversation” with Annie, then I rollbacked before Orion did intervene).
Now, what I see or wonder for the future.
I'd like to see Eva again. Probably not in the same circumstances (as she said), she could change her job or something like that. Don't know what you plan for her, but she looks like the perfect hidden character, the one that rocks the team if the player makes the good choices, and is totally missed else.
(Somewhat like Yuffie in FF7, with her cool but totally optional quest in Wutai.)
I'm wondering about how Luna's dad will react if he learn that Luna is part of a harem. He's fun, he likes Orion and his attempts to marry them off are cute, but he's also very protective and I'm not sure he'll like the idea of his sweet daughter being only one of many girls.
And, I can't wait to learn more about the very first phone call, when they arrived at Kredon. It was a good teaser, quite discreet as we didn't know about Calypso and the temple at the moment, but it was also the only real proof something special is going on for now (the Founder's freeze could be explained differently, and Benajmin's death isn't directly related to the team.)
(Of course, the 100% compatibility and the Neo-like abilities makes Orion special, but it still could be some other few people in the same situation. But a phone call naming him in the real world, that's something different. Hope we'll get an explanation.)
Finally, I'd say… even if there's of course a room for improvements (there always is), your game is currently one of the best adult games I ever played. Well, with such a story, it's better than a lot of mainstream games too. Congrats!
I'm under the impression the only thing you can't do in Eternum is change what you look like. How you see yourself IRL is how you look in the game, Right? So what happens if a guy is missing a leg or both legs and plays the game? Will the game gift him cyborg legs?

And one other question, at the start of the game, the main character asks about sex in the game. And NPCs can't do it, only consenting players. So what was the Eternum Lady doing when she made 3 of her? Just joking around to illustrate her point?
If someone is missing a leg, he will still have a missing leg in Eternum. MC Alex and Nova talk about how unfair/sad that is in Ogygia. And yeah she was making a point when doing that 😁

Aside from the absolutely amazing games you've created, im glad to see that caribdis is very engaged with the audience. Everytime I drop by I see them replying to comments. If I was in this story I think the first thing I'd do is hire someone to develop a body suit and helmet that connected to the game without the needle in you neck. Having the pain feel real, even when it's a critical hit, like a stab in the eye or chest is a deal breaker. No way a kid or even most teens could handle that. The mental and emotional scarring alone would be insane. People would be a wreck after that. You'd have a slight advantage of not feeling pain as others do but playing the game with a suit that didn't mimic real pain. And it would still require skill and practice.
It would be enough for me to simply play the game with a suit that vibrated or warmed up in spots on my body to let me know I was interacting with the game. Like a vibration to show you were hot in the back of warning the hand to show you picked up a warm mug. And worse since some server have illegal content like rape and murder of kids, being trapped in one of those with no exit, you might not even escape fast enough to tell the authorities. In a way, a person could trap you in the game and torture you without doing critical damage until you begged them to stop and promised not to tell on them. There's already been cases where the cops of the game didn't show up to save people in need of help right away. Even tho the game is designed to protect people against being abused and trolled by being murdered and raped or tortured.
I Just think a real sicko must be behind the game if they can be a founder of a game that doesn't stop people from being able to go too far automatically. Like if a person is breaking a rule, instead of Praetorans coming, that person is forcefully logged out of the game and unable to ever log on again. Ever. That would stop child porn server and rapists for sure.

I love the comedy and the cast personalities. And the game looks great. But I just can't get into the idea that so much of this game, made by a multi-million dollar company is shady as hell. If you think about it for even a second it doesn't add up unless the live in a bleak dark future where the government and common man gives no F**KS.
If you were a parent and you 17 yr old logged off a game and cried in your arms that a crazy lady held her at gun point and told her to suck a guy off. Wouldn't you stop and NOTHING to find out what the company let that happen? What if you got in the game and you're 33 and a bunch of 19 yr old women tell you they're gonna help you level up bc you're new. But they just lure you to an OP player who humiliates you on your first day and tortured you and then kills you. Would you just log off and say "oh well guess this game was money well spent. Best $2500 I've ever spent."
My theory is that besides social commentary that the writer of the game is trying to mimic unfair crap in dark souls paired with trolling on the net and apathetic admins and mods. But it still doesn't add up that this game would make crazy money and not have long line of scarred for life players losing their mind for being stabbed in the chest everytime they log on. One guy gets his head smashed. Did he feel that? Wouldn't that crush his will to play the game?

I played Once In A Lifetime a month or so ago and thought it was alright. While the story was kinda meh in my opinion, and I didn't like how two girls basically had the same face, I do like the quirky sense of humor with the meta jokes here and there. Also, impreg is kinda my biggest fetish so its a plus.
Eternum is basically a huge leap forward. I actually find the story very intriguing and the setting is also pretty cool. A mix of Sword Art Online with Ready Player One. The character models are great and the h-scenes are solid as well. The MC still looks kinda weird but I'd say he looks much better. And despite all that, the sense of humor from Once In A Lifetime still persists.

Quite simply one of the best AVNs ever made. Cannot think of a real criticism. The animations are unbelievable for RenPy and the genre as a whole, looks amazing. The polish in general is just so good. Even the fact that its essentially a game about romantic LARPing but doesnt feel cringe or out of touch in the least. Dude definitely earned all 3500 of his patrons, cut his teeth on one of the best AVNs ever and stepped up his game twofold for this one.
It's the comedy that's the best sell for the game. And the improved models over the course of the games he's made. The first one had good ones but this one had way better. And in terms of comedy it's meta without fully breaking 4th wall. For example, a running theme in erotic games is that women will obsess over huge penises and freeze in their tracks. This happens a lot in this and his earlier game. And tons more. Since that's a huge gimmick, they even turned it into a joke in this game. When there's a serious moment where everyone needs to focus and do their job, the one monkey wrench in the plan is a girl ignoring all life threatening events because a huge penis is near her. Satire like that touches on two level. A jab at ero VNs in general, and a jab at the running gag in Caribdis' games. Plus it is even more of a heckle of spaz characters like "manick pixie dream girls" who can sometimes be too quirky for their own good.

Some of the these server idea and all the rule changing that comes from it seems a lot like Kingdom Hearts. Especially when they change how you look or what weapons you're ALLOWED to use.
So far it's a super intriguing game, not because of the mature content, but because of the context of the story.
The character designs and graphics are also fantastic. Though I have to ask, did Dalia's facial features change? According to me, the change began after the adventure with Nova in the temple of Maat, specifically in the part where they talk about the water butterflies. Then I noticed more the change in the scenes where they meet on the Rome server, and I became even more convinced that something changed in Dalia, in the last scenes of the game, when they meet in a house to study the robbery plan. . . . . .
In my personal opinion, I really liked Dalia's design at the beginning of the game, for example when we are introduced to Dalia and Penelope, in the school scenes and in the pool scenes when we are introduced to Alex.
For me, the initial Dalia design was my favorite.

It broke my heart seeing a character named after a goddess of truth and justice playing a villain who's only motivation was sex, violence, and stealing. And she is just one of 3 brown characters with no redeeming qualities. Like Ben and Willaim Bardot. I was hoping she was romance option but not just a cruel femme fatale.

If someone logs into Eternum, even tho it's an MMO, you can't see names or stats? How do you know if an enemy is too strong for you. At one point in the game a character said they had a fake name in the game. How? And when would someone see it? When they scanned her or selected her in the game as she walked around?
If a person dies in the game, can they remake their stats and go walk up to their own dead body? EDIT Ogygia is best arc so far. I just found out that's a ref to Odyssey. I thought is was an a server when there was a never ending orgy.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the MC is trying to do with his character build. Why doesn't he focus and play a RPG class? Why can't you bring whatever gear you want to whatever server you want. If you get great gear in Red Herring, are you not allowed to have it in another server? That's nonsense.
I don't understand how exp is given to him. And I saw a fight scene but who know what was gained from it. Maybe the idea is to just pick one server and always stay there and become a OP badass there and only there. THe MC Orion never seems to get better at fighting or magic or anything. He kinda just talks to people and because he's simply there, quests progress and get solved. But who knows what his level is.

last time i played WoW, you couldn't take most gear between servers. you needed to roll a new character unless you got the character and all its gear transferred, as a premium service.. so the mechanics seem sound to me
then I guess the best idea is stay in one server and become OP there not jump around all over.

Holy shit... what if it's a time loop. Some small things change but it's all cylindrical. Here's another theory: The MC, Orion, made Eternum but Eternum is about a VR of him eventually coming up with the skill and inspiration of wanting to make it in the first place. The women in his life inspired The Eternum Lady and Preatoran and Chang inspire Chop-Chop. And now, having alienated himself from all his friends IRL, he is playing Eternum to try and see the memories of their lives before he became the Founder. The game shows the past, mimicking the early days of them playing MMOs together.
I'm starting to wonder if what makes Eternum so popular is a drug-like euphoria gained from playing it. Like in the code. People often say they can't take their mind off it. And realistically how would a game take over an economy without something else at play? I guarantee you that Eternum is just another cult and like all successful cults, it subtly brainwashes the people to think they can't live without it. Remember how WOW had people quitting their jobs just to play it, even tho doing so would mean having no money to pay for it?
well for starters, a player is the kinda person who would go so far as to get what is basically a brain implant, in order to play it. theyre probably elon musk fanboys/fangirls

I feel greedy trying to push away guys from all the women, but I confess I do like almost all of them. It was the same way in Once in a Lifetime. But I feel like a bad guy. What right do I have to ruin another's love life chances when I'm already in love with another woman anyway. SMH I don't know. I said it once I'll say it again.
"From the second you turned on the game, you were already in Eternum."
That's my theory. There's no way the main character can trigger important events just from starting the game. As if quests and mysteries were all on hold until he got there. The hints are all there. "That never happened before. I never saw her before." Why would NPCs suddenly step forward and give more hints on a quest that was never solved before then? But now it suddenly has more clues when the MC shows up? It's like they said in Disgaea 2, "maybe the only reason you weren't turned into a monster is because you're the main character."
The main character is playing an offline game. All the girls in it that he loves are just NPCs. "They remember you. It's hard to tell who's a player and an NPC." And quests activate and progress when he's around because he's a player and the ONLY player. "(voice like All-Might) You can move on in a quest, BECAUSE I AM HERE!" He just forgot that he wipes his memory, and that he is playing a game when he starts (which he did for immersion, like in that Dragon Quest animated movie). " Hey, bored with playing games and always winning? You want full immersion and you're the founder or veteran player of a game? Memory wipe and play with no weapons and and only your allies are OK at the game, but no one is OP."

At the end of the game I bet the MC is alone and forced to accept that he got so into immersion of Eternum that he fell in love, not just with the game, but the NPC love interests he made in it as well. And so he deletes the game and decides to go have real relationships again.
But that's just a theory, A GAME THEORY!

I remember secret ending in "Once in a Lifetime". Well... This world is just another server from Eternum. And MC from Eternum played as MC from OIAL, but he didn't know it until he left the game. So, your words may be true. But I wanna think that both games (Eternum & OIAL) are not just random servers from "Eternum". I prefer to think that both games exist in the same world. Otherwise we wouldn't have seen mentions of Stabby Mike in the Eternum.
What secret ending? I messed up the romance story line of the teach and Judie, so maybe I didn't get the perfect ending. I was being too nice and the game assumed I didn't want to date them. By the time I saw I was locked out, it was too late. And I only had one save file.
If the MC of OIAL is the same as Eternum's, I can buy that secret ending idea that both games are just servers in the same giant MMO. But I still think OIAL happened. The book didn't help the cult take over. And the cult is reffed (referenced) in the game, Eternum (with a newpaper and some dialogue). I think Eternum is just another cult's way of taking over since witchcraft and cloak and dagger stuff didnt' work.
President Stabb is I think still president, but I only here about him when the MC is at school or around town. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is play Eternum. In this game Chang and Chop-Chop seem to be the "Stabby Mike" character. So i'm doubting Stabby shows up.
I think both games exists too. But I think OIAL ends where Eternum begins and Eternum is a lingering problem from the time in OIAL. Something the MC didn't notice that was allowed to thrive.
how to trigger secret ending ?
Only thing I can think of would be romance all girls in OIAL and keep Stabbs alive.
You have to fail at trying to have an affair with someone. Then at the end of the game, the MC from Eternum will shut down the game and talk to Dalia, who will laugh at the fact that the MC didn't have any girlfriends even in the game.
Wow. So if you go thru the who game and never have sex or a romance you get a huge meta teaser for the next game... Does that mean OIAL is the game Orion made when he was 14?

I just found out about that server in the game. I just didn't know who that Blue hair girl is. Last I heard you always look just like you do IRL in the game. So how would she have blue hair? A ton of dye? And then she grew it out for what? 20 years?
I've seen American Psycho. But not all the way from start to finish. I remember him killer hookers for no reason with a chainsaw. Then the iconic lines at the end when he pretends to be normal and not insane.
If your strength IRL determines what you are strong as in the game, then what does that mean for people who are sickly? Can they only be mages or gunners? I get the appeal of making people exercise before playing the game to be stronger in the game. But I don't understand what a person would do if they sucked at working out. Even I bike and walk everywhere and lift heavy boxes all the time in a warehouse. But there are people so weak from their own genes and body type that I can't see them being able to do much in Eternum. Even if they loved fighters, they'd be stuck playing a range class, right?

Its one of the best games I think I've ever played. Caribdis you've really outdone yourself. Overall I would rate this game a good 10/10. The story is really interesting and the graphics knocked my socks off when I saw it. Perhaps one of the best visual novel games I've seen. Thank you kindly for this game.

Just finished. I created an account just to leave a review. I'm amazed at this game. Really really well thought out. Love all the references and homage to other titles. Story line reminds me of Ready Player One with a dark twist and the happens to be one of the characters favorite movies. The Hogwarts bit was hilarious. Really looking forward to .04. I will definitely support. Continue making the characters feel unique and keep making the relationship with the MC unique and individual to each different person. I have only 1 suggestion. More real time fight decisions like the gladiator scene. That would improve the "play" aspect of the game. I enjoyed every min. Thank you for your work.

Hi Caribdis, I just finished the game after obsessed it for 2 days, now I'm hyped for the 0.4 update, so while waiting I think I'll write a little review, I'm no native english speaker so spare me on my grammars, this also contain a little spoiler if anyone else reading this before playing the game.
First: let's talk about our Main Character, right after I started the game there's something I kinda don't like, the MC or I'd say Orion hair, like damn that hair looks weird, I get used to it after playing a little, but he's a great character, his attitude with the girls is very cute and deserve the harem for himself, typical nice guy for you and I'll kill that son of a bitch that wanna hurt my girl MC, which indeed one of my favorite type of MC. I also like his power, I don't wanna spoil the game so I just wanna say I'd love to dive more about it in the future, the 100% compatibility is a nice touch to make him special but come on, BUFF MY BOI MORE.
All the senarios choices is great but I think a little bit more situations to choose is gonna be fun since the story has become more serious so our MC should give out more decisions that will affect the game, in good and bad ways. Overall, I like him, he's one of the Adult MCs that I actually like. But I still don't like his hair, sorry...it's my thought.
The story of the game is outstanding for a porn game, the depth of it is so good, but I don't like the fact that collecting the gems is being rush a little too fast, maybe you should increase the number of the gems, like the eternum game have 4000 servers ( from what I remember ) and only 10 gems ? that's wayyyyy to low man, don't get me wrong, the more rare the more hard but 5 had been found and then 2 in a couple of chapter, that's a little too fast, I don't really want this game to end that soon.
Second: about the girls, they are fcking adorable, all of them, have their own personalities, hobby, which make the game feel more fun trying to interact with them, I'm no expert in game reviewing but I can tell you doing a very great job breathing life into the character, also I really wanna know who's gonna be the last girl, how exciting!
Third: let's talk about the race, since the eternum ( the game in the game, kekw this is weird ) is a global game I kinda want to see more asian and black people, i'm no racist ( heck I'm asian myself ) so having more varieties will make the game feel more globally,I know we already got Chang, Benjamin, AND MY BOI CHOP-CHOP AYEEEEEEEEEEE, but they are just for comedy and story, in fact Benjamin is a dick so it will be nice if we have a black guy ( or even better a girl ) that's positive to Orion and help him through his journey.
Finally, I'll say that the game is a total banger, there's a lot to improve, I wanna support your patreon but I'm kinda in-debt right now lol, BUT I'll definitely support you in the future, overall the game is very worth playing!

Okay, while waiting for the next chapter, I'll try an honest review of the current ones. Not a native english speaker, so please forgive me for eye injuries.
First of all: as a girl, I'm not a huge fan of a single male character having a female harem (I'd rather have the opposite, but it's sadly not common in such games).
But: your girls are cute, with interesting backstories, and most of them are legit badass, so it's way better than in other harem games. And Orion's behaviour seems to deserve their attention, which not all MC can boast.
In fact I even can't say which of the girls is my favourite so far, they're all too good to choose!
About diversity: almost all characters are white people. But not all. The few exceptions being ChipChop and Chang, asians, that are mainly used for the comic relief and thus quite ridiculous, and mainly Benjamin, black, and an absolute asshole (not sure about Maat, she looked more tanned than black, but she's not exactly a positive role either, so…)
I think it's problematic. But it's quite simple to correct: there's a lot of bit players everywhere. You just have to make some of them visibly non-white, and it'll work way better (noticed there was one other black guy in the groups introduction, but we saw almost only his back in shadow, and I can't remember seeing him again later).
About the main character: Orion is cool. Not particularly handsome or endearing, but pretty good for the role. To be honest, I think the MC's look was the main issue of Once in a lifetime, but this one is just fine.
I'm not a huge fan of the big dick trope, but I have to admit you did some good use of it, especially the scene with Nancy while Orion was sleeping, which was funny.
I'm not sure about the suit. Not that I dislike it (well, I think it looks weird, but that's just a matter of taste), but it's weirdly used: you start by telling “It's not required but recommended”, and then it looks more like “It's absolutely unnecessary unless I want to show you a girl in it”.
I was a bit disappointed by finding a gem of doom and two thirds of the weapons of Atlas in the second chapter, which, at first, looked like long-term achievements coming way too quickly. But, of course, with the gem gone soon after and Calypso being what she is, the third chapter was reassuring about the game's length.
That was the lukewarm points. So now, let's see the really good parts.
I often only smile playing humorous games. You did make me laugh a few time. So, well done! Along the same lines, I'm not a huge fan of horror scenes, especially in adult games, but I didn't dislike yours, which is quite an achievement :-)
Really good work on the sound atmosphere, and good choice of musics. I didn't know Snake City before, and now I'm listening Run Boy Run while writing this. Not sure the lyrics really match the scene for this one, thought, but it does sound really good.

Great work on the different worlds (including Kredon), althought we didn't (for now, I guess) saw much about Ion and Ekabar. I thought from chapter 1's dialogues those two were supposed to be the most used, and finally not so much (yet). But most of those you introduced are really good and I'm curious to learn more about them.
(As I'm not really into cyberpunk, I was dubious about the neural implant when I first read the synopsis, but you managed it well, so it allows a wide diversity of worlds in a credible way, which is really cool.)
Magic effects are really good. Can't wait to see Annie's abilities (she looked really cool in the first time in Ion, but didn't have the occasion to do more than a show off for now).
The HP's parody (ouch, sorry, professor, won't say that again!) was really fun (except for the frog, poor Penny). I wonder it the trio of summoners will be seen again or not.
And, well… there's too much good scenes. When Orion tells Annie he likes her (really cool thing he asked before kissing!). That poor guy at the yoga club. Nancy punching back the Emperor. Alex's grandma (almost cried). The first meeting with Luna.
Not a huge fan of the need to punch Axel each time the choice is given, but, heh, it's Axel, so he had it coming (on the very first meeting, I first choose to be polite before we saw his “conversation” with Annie, then I rollbacked before Orion did intervene).
Now, what I see or wonder for the future.
I'd like to see Eva again. Probably not in the same circumstances (as she said), she could change her job or something like that. Don't know what you plan for her, but she looks like the perfect hidden character, the one that rocks the team if the player makes the good choices, and is totally missed else.
(Somewhat like Yuffie in FF7, with her cool but totally optional quest in Wutai.)
I'm wondering about how Luna's dad will react if he learn that Luna is part of a harem. He's fun, he likes Orion and his attempts to marry them off are cute, but he's also very protective and I'm not sure he'll like the idea of his sweet daughter being only one of many girls.
And, I can't wait to learn more about the very first phone call, when they arrived at Kredon. It was a good teaser, quite discreet as we didn't know about Calypso and the temple at the moment, but it was also the only real proof something special is going on for now (the Founder's freeze could be explained differently, and Benajmin's death isn't directly related to the team.)
(Of course, the 100% compatibility and the Neo-like abilities makes Orion special, but it still could be some other few people in the same situation. But a phone call naming him in the real world, that's something different. Hope we'll get an explanation.)
Finally, I'd say… even if there's of course a room for improvements (there always is), your game is currently one of the best adult games I ever played. Well, with such a story, it's better than a lot of mainstream games too. Congrats!

I'm under the impression the only thing you can't do in Eternum is change what you look like. How you see yourself IRL is how you look in the game, Right? So what happens if a guy is missing a leg or both legs and plays the game? Will the game gift him cyborg legs?

And one other question, at the start of the game, the main character asks about sex in the game. And NPCs can't do it, only consenting players. So what was the Eternum Lady doing when she made 3 of her? Just joking around to illustrate her point?
If someone is missing a leg, he will still have a missing leg in Eternum. MC Alex and Nova talk about how unfair/sad that is in Ogygia.

I like the Eternum Lady but I knew it was too good to be true to hope she would be a love interest. Bummer but I called that right after that scene. I was like "no way... that's too good."
