Development Update - #1 (GIF heavy)

Hello everyone!

This is my first devlog, or something like that, where I'll share what I've been working on these past 2 months -

Since this is early in development, I'm using a lot of placeholder UI images/3D assets, so probably nothing in here will be final.

Leaning

As any respectable imsim game, leaning has to be part of the game. :D
It detects collisions and supports movement while leaning. I'm also thinking of it being part of the combat system which I'll begin working on next month.

Lockpicking

This lockpicking was made with a character whose Lockpick skill was at 85, quite easy to lockpick. You'll have to find the hidden pins around the lock until the center dot turns a strong green, then you just have to hold the key and, depending on your skill level, it will magnetically move towards the pin from increasingly a farther distance.

But you can always destroy the door, lockpicking is an optional playstyle.

Menu UI Design / Inventory System

Clicking TAB will bring up your Character Menu, you'll be able to see your character's condition, stats, perks, quests, inventory, objective log and dialogue log.

You'll be able to customize your UI with the color palette of your choosing! The center wireframe model also changes based on your character's gender.

The inventory system will feel quite familiar to recent Fallout players. Left click uses the item, and if you're holding more than 5 items, you can right-click on the item to drop a certain amount.

Additionally, hovering over any item will provide some lore, as well as other relevant stats.

---

That's all for now, development has been steady, albeit a bit slow as I can only work on this on my free-time (2-3 hours a day).

Thanks for reading! If you have suggestions or things you'd like to see in an immersive-sim RPG, feel free to post them in the comments.

I think body carrying is a big one, to make sure you stay undetected.

The biggest thing I would actually like to see, I think, would be like a hub world? Immersive sims are usually pretty level based so something like a Fallout 1&2 map with some being more dungeon focused and some just being towns with normal quests, would be ace.

But generally, I just want a fun experience with cool level design. I think that is the biggest thing.

Oh yeah, body carrying I managed to put it in the jam game, I don't think many people noticed though :)
You can grab the hip and extremities of the body (feet, hands, head) and drag them around and throw the body as well. The strength of your throw and drag speed will be dependent on skill level.

I agree with the hub world and what me and my brother are designing will be close to that!

Speaking of, I just realized I haven't really talked about the setting and design of the game, I should focus my next development update on that. I think you're gonna like it.
