Awesome art and aesthetics, reminds me of FNAF. Well done!

I like how you took the feel of FNAF's mechanics and applied them to an older era. I especially felt the stress of the game when I was recharging the UV lights and the ghost detector went red/ when I was looking behind me because I thought I heard the ghost girl and the UV Light ghost appeared.

I was looking forward to checking this one out cos I saw some of the progress posts on Discord and thought the art was really nice :3

When I first started playing, I was pretty confused as I downloaded the windows version since I'm on the ol potato laptop, and there wasn't any sound >.< I thought it was my laptop being its usual crappy self, so I checked headphone volume + settings volume, but it made no difference having both on max. I played the first level, but still no sound. Then I had a lightbulb moment and went to try the browser version instead! The sound is fine on that :3 So maybe it's a bug in the windows version? I did try restarting a couple of times, but that didn't make any difference. The browser version ran fine for me anyways, so I just played through the rest like that :D

The ghost lady did make me jump the first time when she appeared, haha. I thought the lightning effect in later levels was really cool, and I hope it's not too spoilery to say, but also the dude popping up with like his head in the bookcase and clock and stuff, haha.

I noticed a couple of bugs here and there, which you might already aware of! I guess I'll mention them in case you aren't though. One thing was that the mother ghost sprite from night 3 onwards seemed to get stuck on the screen for me after appearing for the first time. Not fully, like a very faint transparent burn or something I guess from the frame where she's about to fade maybe. The first time mother ghost appeared on night 4, she sorta appeared without her sprite. I knew she was there and to press the light cos the SFX played as normal, and I kinda just hit the light on instinct, haha, but the sprite didn't show. That only happened on her first popup though, after that, the sprite appeared as normal, and then the faded version got stuck on the screen again.

I think I spotted some typos in the story text for night 3 and 4 as well. Night 3 I think was a comma where it looked like you meant to put a full stop (cos the next word was 'In' or something like that and the I was capitalised.) And in night 4 I'm not quite sure if it was a typo or if it was actually two different characters, but paragraph 2 said Ester, and paragraph 3 said Esther.

I hope you don't think I'm being nit picky cos that isn't the case at all! >.< I just know that I personally would prefer to know about stuff like that when people encounter it so I can fix it. When I released my first big project, despite extensive testing by myself and a couple of friends, there were odd minor bugs and typos in several places, and I didn't find out about some of em until like 3 months later :( Was kinda mortified that folk had been playing for that long and I had no idea those issues were there, haha. I know there are definitely some bugs in my entry for this as well! Likely typos too, cos no matter how hard I try to eliminate em, some always bloomin remain T_T haha.

So sorry for rambling >.<

Anyways! I think the aesthetics are pretty darn lovely to look at. The SFX are utilised really well to create tension, and it all comes together really nicely as a complete experience :3

Thanks for the in-depth feed back! I'm glad you enjoyed the game.

Sorry about the bugs you encountered, I'll definitely be looking into all of them after the jam ends :) Theres definitely a lot more wonky stuff going on in the browser version I think hahaha

Apologies in advance for additional rambling x3 I totally forgot to say last night that I've never played or watched any of FNAF before, so the whole thing was new to me, not played anything like it before :3 I thought it was kinda like a horror rhythm game, but instead of pressing buttons to music, it was to survive the spooks :D My brother has been telling me to check out FNAF for aaaaaages, but I haven't yet cos the more he tells me to, the more I resist xD If this is inspired by FNAF though, I probably should get round to checking it out since it's funky!

You should check FNaF out! Especially the first one. Yeah we wanted to go for the same feeling as fnaf but change the theme and mechanics.

Cool game! Awesome aesthetics!

Interesting game, it reminded me a lot of Five Nights At Freddy's, so it was quite stressful haha

The aesthetics is good!

Overall nice work!

I really liked this game. Real net and polished. I also saw the streams, so I knew the mechanics on beforehand a little bit, but I really enjoyed it!

Definitely one of the more polished submissions out there, a good solid game with excellent atmosphere. Unintuitive gameplay is probably the only issue I have with it, as it appears to drop you in without much setup.

Developer

Thanks for the awesome feedback! A tutorial of some kind will be the first thing we add after the voting period is over :)

Great art! and jump scares were very jumpy. Not a fan of the five night in Freddy's style of game, but very high quality submission.

Nice lil' jump there.

I actually jumped! I liked the background story and the presentation, but the controls only worked the first time. I couldn't get the light to recharge so once she popped up and I used the initial flash, I was toast!!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Glad we got a jump out of you! Thanks for the feedback.

I was a little worried the controls might not be too self explanatory haha. The recharge is the wheel to the right of the light button. You must click on it each time the needle is in the dark area 3 times in a row.

I'll definitely be adding a clearer tutorial after the jam ends.
