just made an account to post this. my complete and honest thoughts on bfdi: branches, based on the trailer. i do not expect this to stay exactly the same. its clear a lot will be changed later on. i just want to give my thoughts on how it looks so far.
i cant say im very excited for this. i dont mean that im not at all, i just dont feel that excited.
lets start with the visual style. this looks like a mobile game with an ad every time you tap somewhere. the colors are way too bright, and the level design is so lame. the massive piles of dirt are so annoying to look at. the characters are also not great. i dont mean not great as in you made bad choices for who you can play as (i think those choices are PEAK) but the bfdi style isnt that great to look at. i get thats your style, but not everyone is gonna like it. my recommendation to fix this is to make some kind of mode where you can use the bfb/tpot style for the visuals. it would take a long time, but the colors there are so much nicer, and the characters look smoother. it would help a lot with not having eyestrain from the absurd brightness of the colors right now.
second, the gameplay (from what i can gather). i dont really have much to say, it looks good other than the fact it looks like theyre in outer space with how much they float. maybe decrease the jump height?
third, the enemies. there is nothing to say. its just bugs. thats cool. i like that.
finally, the puzzles. we dont see much of them, but they seem fine.
overall, ehhhh 7/10. visuals REALLY drag this down, but it seems like it will be cool. i will be maining either pin or coiny, i cant decide. theyre my favorite characters so one of them for sure.
also YOU HAVE AN ENTIRE TEAM, HOW DID YOU MESS THIS UP. ARE YOU STUPID OR SOMETHING???????????? /j
You have a point, although I disagree on the artstyle/visuals part, yes I get not everyone might not like the style but I feel the the BFDI OG style is used to invoke the feeling of nostalgia, also it is actually confirmed that Branches will take place during BFDIA.
Yeah the colors are bright but I actually don't mind that, also I don't think it looks something out of a mobile game ad, but more of a flash game from 2010's or a very cool Mario/Sonic fangame with too much effort /hyp
Also the level design looks alright
But I gotta agree on the jump height lol, it's too high. And I agree on everything else
I'm overall excited on this game, but even this game is not perfect. Not every game is perfect, it has flaws like everything
