Green Territory - Coming Along Nicely

Hello hello!

A lot of stuff happened in Green Territory since my last update here. Picture above illustrates some of these changes.

Firstly, it’s now possible to properly construct buildings! Finally :) Currently only three types of buildings are implemented: a dome, a storage and a miner. Construction process also includes what I like to call “a building ghost” - a slightly transparent version of the building being built that follows your mouse around. The ghost also shows you if it is possible to place the building or not due to different limitations (such as free space on map, green zone under a building, enough resources for construction, etc).

Secondly, the map now have procedurally placed resource points of two types: crystals and metals. Each resource point has some limited capacity and can be mined by adjacent miners. Mined resources form resource bundles that find their way across the map to the nearest storage with some free space.

Thirdly, the buildings now have energy levels that drop with time. In order to function properly a building must have some energy converted from crystals. When a building is low on energy it requests new crystals from nearby storages. Crystal bundles find their way across the map the same way as the mined bundles.

As a result of these three you can see resources constantly running around our little network. There are still quite a few building types to add, and there is no balance in numbers whatsoever, but hey, it will come with time.

These features alone create some kind of playable game, but there are much more to come until we have the first playable beta.

Stay tuned,
