Ramble


Hi everyone!

I figured it's been a while since I've made a devlog so I should share a bit. (Again updates are frequent on discord and semi-frequent on tumblr/blogger) 

I haven't really talked about what I've been up to or aiming to accomplish at all really. People who know me through discord have the details but usually they have to ask cause I'm pretty quiet. So I'm about to make a incoherent ramble of a bunch of things I feel should be shared. lol

1. I got they/them options in there in case anyone wants to know. I made this cool thing actually, it's a menu on the side of the game much like a quick menu options where you can change your genitalia, chest,  and pronoun options while midgame. 

2. Added a chest options. (Chest/Breast).

3. Along with the gender menu in #1 I added a font type for dyslexia. 

4. I don't know if I talked about this or not but Walter's route is completely done. Honestly that's an odd feeling for me, I'm used to a todo list the size of my forearm lol. But yea, Walter is done, David's on his way. A lot of things are being clued up and finished.

5. While all characters but Walter, have writing to be added (an ending here or there, or a personal dialog I put off cause I don't know what to input) I consider them all to be complete but with things left to do. With that said, there is technically only 2 characters to write. (if I'm being generous to myself) I have 2 others that are half way there, and the rest (not including Walter) that are basically done with touch ups/inputs. So I guess what I'm saying is, it's nearly got all the writing done!

6. I changed up all the art. When I first started Love Lock I was more focused on creating a feeling, a situation. Art was second. I didn't have like a "way" I wanted to draw people. I had something in mind but I wasn't able to get close to that vision. Time travel 3-4 years to now, I have grown a lot as an artist, ways I didn't think I'd be growing in. And I found I guess you could say my brand? maybe? I never considered myself to have a "style" cause primarily I'm an animator and I'm trained to be able to mimic any style so that I can work on any tv show/movie etc. So character creation was a struggle at the beginning that I feel has been fleshed out. It took a lot of exploring to see what I like in art, or what art I like and oddly enough it all pointed towards tf2 lol. I love the faces of the medic/spy/sniper class. The way they are expressive, the wrinkles, everything about it. (I'm talking about many pieces of fan art that were created or sketches, you can't see these details in the 3d models though the models are lovely as well with their painted look) Anyway this is a ramble. but art~ lol I found something I really like and am really proud of. I don't know if this means I need to redo the trailer videos /update the demo or not though... That would be very time consuming. 

7. uh... so f95 has labeled my project as abandoned and that's fine in all but I worry that a lot of you are going to think it's dead. I get questions as such asking about it. I tried to create a tumblr to show more of what's going on, and even on discord I stream when coding/creating art and share posts. I think for the most part everyone knows that it's ongoing but for those that don't just want to state again it's not dead. Which is why I'm making a devlog. 

8. Speaking of it being dead. Did you guys know I started Love Lock in 2019? Everything you play in the demo is from late 2019 (September) I spent a year working on it without anyone knowing lol. So it's been a 4 year project. With only a few months taken off in-between from emergencies/visiting loved ones. 

9. Speaking of 2019 lol :P I have probably said this enough times now that everyone's like, enough already B.B XD but damn!!!! This game is the size of two novels right now!!! I can't express that enough. I get a lot of people asking if it's dead, or if it will be free or when it will be done. And a lot of the reasons those answers are what they are is because of #9. and #8. lol Like it's massive and I probably repeat this over and over again cause I don't' think people understand that and I'm freaking proud >~< !!! I don't consider myself a writer at all and to have written this much blows my mind like "I did that??? what????". Also many patreons who then join discord, the first thing they confide in me was "I grossly underestimated how large this game was" lol So yea! Something for you guys to be excited about and look forward to! A single gameplay session to reach 1 ending of Love Lock is about 2 hours. And there's ... hmm I might have to do a count but I think there's around 90 - 100+ I'll count and make a comment later :P 

10. and speaking of XD lolol welcome to my thought train, but speaking of me being a writer. I don't know how to convey this but Love Lock... Game? Story? I really don't know, it plays as both but personally I consider it an experience. It's basically a abduction experience/sim-u...lation? maybe? I'd have to double check the meaning of that word to commit to that, but yea an experience. Like... I don't know, it's complicated. Like a game implies winning and losing, but depending on who you are and what you want, winning and losing is very different. Some of you want to "win" and escape. Where some of you want to "win" by falling in love with a character and living happily ever after. I think that's why I look at this as an experience. There's many different ways to play it, just like my recently released game Unknown. Anyway I've just never really shared that with anyone other then a few on the discord who happened to ask the right questions at the right time I guess. 

11. I've been giving it a lot of thought as of what happens when Love Lock is completed and what I will work on next, especially with the Patreon taking place and I think I have something geared up. It's probably going to be another game like Love Lock but with 4-5 characters instead of 9-10. I've already gotten a few ideas going and a name for one of the characters, but this is a ways away before I can put any attention into it.


Welp, I think that's the end of the thought train, I can't think of anything else that I would really like you guys to know. I'm sure there's lots to share but nothing really speaks out to me. So I wish you al a great day!

#9. I counted up all the endings. 

9+15 +53 + 25 + 21 + 2 + 22 + 3 + 28 = 178 Endings. I estimate about 55 more will be added before it's done. 20 each for the 2 characters I have left and 15 maybe between the two that are half written.
