ok so i have it dowloaded and extracted, i can name the clan, and choose the cats, but when i say done it says error tells me that theres something wrong with it, it then imidietly closes and i don't know what to do, should i just re-dowload it?
I have two small fixes I feel this game could use, both pertaining to the leaders, when my leader of the clan dies in an event or by me killing them the deputy doesn’t take over as leader and I need to manually assign a new leader and it doesn’t allow the deputy to be promoted. Also, I think a tell of how many lives a leader has would be really helpful as well!
all things aside, I’ve been enjoying this little game a lot!!

We have the same problem as EnigmaFlower. After downloading, opening and unzipping the files and then opening the Main application .exe file, I get the message:
Unhandled exception in script. Failed to execute script 'main' due to an unhandled exception: No file 'sprites/lineart.png' found in working directory 'C:\Users\mgwoo\Downloads'
I see this .png file is in the Sprites folder in the downloaded release. Any suggestions how to get this to work?
Hello! I'm not sure if this is a usual problem but as I went to open the file after following instructions for downloading and extracting it, I go to open the file to play and it tells me "File Script Error".

Can you update it to have natural disaters ex: floods, storms and other events like disease, badger attacks, hawks, and rouge raid, also when kits are born some are stillborn, and disabled (blind and deaf) cats?
Hello! Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but I've been playing this game for a while and I have some recommended updates! I don't have any coding experience, and this is all completely optional, but I want this game to be the best it can be! These may also already be on your to-do list, but here we go!
- I wish we could assign apprentices to mentors
- There should be a confirmation window before you click "kill" (I've accidentally killed many of my clan cats by clicking this button ><)
- When a cat passes away I would like to be able to see that a cat is still mates with a cat that is already dead (i.e. I open up the details of a cat, click "pick mate for _____", and I can easily see that they are mates with a cat that is dead)
- More variety in patrol events like interactions with kittypets (this can be more optional since there are already a lot of events!)
- Leaders should show how many of their lives they have left and shouldn't be killed instantly
- Prey is accounted for each season and depending on how much you're able to catch each season it affects the likelihood of cats dying off
- Maybe limit the amount of kits can be born/amount of cats a clan can have (there was a season where I had 4 queens produce 12 kits in total o-o),
- Camp invasions from neighboring clans or even rogues if you don't have many warriors in camp after letting them all patrol
- Events where clan members leave to be a rogue or kittypet
- Lastly, making sure there are consistently only 3 other clans that you can interact with on patrols! (To me, it doesn't make sense that I interact with completely different clans each time I patrol a border?)
Thank you very much for working on this! I love this game already, but I figured ideas would be welcome ^-^ And if I have any other recommendations I'll be sure to voice them!
If it won't let you even download it, it is probably because an antivirus of some sort is automatically detecting it. If that is the issue just temporarily disable it so you can download it.
The Mac release doesn't seem to be working for me, it comes up with a folder and has a file that says "main" And when its opened instead of opening the game it comes up with a page of code, is anyone else having this problem?
Everything was working nice, could select the cats for the clan but when i click done it gives off a error and force closes the game. ;-; tried like 4 times but keeps doing the same error

hi! I am on a Mac computer and I installed python and pygame, but when I clic on main.py to start playing, it opens the file but I'm not sure what to do from here, as its not letting me play and I'm unsure if I have to import it somewhere or open it with something else. What should I do?

just double click the exe if you downloaded the release, if it is only .py files you downloaded the source code version which you should only use if you are not on Windows.

Hi, I wouldn't say I'm great at using python, considering I just grabbed it and pygame today. Is there a tutorial for installing a game like this one onto it? I'm not sure how I would go about it.
If you are on Windows, simply double click on the .exe file to play. If you arent on Windows make sure you download the source version, then install Python 3, and finally install Pygame via 'pip install pygame' in the terminal. You can then run main.py with python and it will work
When you download (using the top download), you'll get a .zip file which you should unzip with 7zip or whatever else your computer might have. This will make a folder in which there is a file called "main". Just open that and the game should pop up!
Are you sure you downloaded the main file, not the "source" one? If you did and it's still not working, then can you tell me exactly what steps you're taking and how it isn't working? (if you have discord, it may be easier to discuss this there. you can dm me at sky#3890)
For some reason, after a patrol, my cats completely disappear from the clan but not the list, and when I timeskip, they're back. Is this supposed to happen? If so, how long until they return?
This is intended! It's meant to show that they're still out on patrol (and keep them from going on two in the same moon). They return once the next moon comes.
I'd love to be able to assign apprentices to warriors during their training. It'd be cool if you could edit names for cats who share the same prefix. I cannot wait to see what else comes for this lovely little game. I've been hooked ever since I found out about it! :D This game is wonderful, keep up the good work!
If you're interested, there is a way to (fairly easily) edit cat names in the files! There should be a folder right by the application called "saves", and within that is a file called "(clan name)cats". You can open this file with Excel, LibreOffice, and even Notepad. There will be a lot of info in there (which requires this guide to really understand, but it lets you customize your cats in all sorts of ways), but you'll see their names there. It will show as Prefix:Suffix for all cats, regardless of rank. To edit them, just change the prefix and suffix to whatever you'd like, though keep in mind that kits, apprentices, and leaders will need a suffix there (though I suppose it's possible for them not to have one and just have a prefix? hm). Just make sure you save afterwards and you should be good to go! <3

gosh python 3 and wine bottler are both kinda confusing lol (or it could be me bein brainless) so idk if it would be possible to maybe play on the website?

yeah, that is Apple being Apple, there may be some setting you have to change to allow third party software, but idk I have never used Mac OS. In response to the website question: It is possible I'm sure, but probably pretty hard to get something made with Pygame to work in a browser.
If you are on Windows, you just should be able to double click the .exe file that is inside. If you are on Mac or Linux, I would just recommend joining the Discord server so that they can give you instructions without needing a long thread like this. https://discord.gg/2WkcMYTU
downloaded fine and was working before the update, but now errors when trying to make a new clan and when i close the error it force exits, it says something about unhandled exceptions, it also had the same error when changing settings (let same sex cats/unmated cats have offspring)

i figured it out and fixed it! just delete ti then re install it and assign it to desktop!

The deputy will become leader the moon after, which doesn't make much sense, but the game has to register it that way...I do hope they fix it though!

So i tried using this on my Chromebook which runs ChromeOS and it didn't work
that is because this can only run on Windows and Mac. (plus Linux if you run the source version or use Wine)

oh yep, I didn't even see that. This advice still applies to Macs with M2 chips apparently though

Same problem. It sucks because I was looking forward to playing it. Hopefully they fix this soon.
you can try executing it from the terminal. open the terminal in the same folder and enter './main'
im sorry but i really dont understand what that means, how would i enter anything?

This is only playable on desktop computers, I have heard that they are working on getting a port out to web, but for now you can't.

i selected all of the files and dragged them into the (folder? i don't know what its called) named 'desktop', then it worked.

yep, just copy the folders between clanlist and settings, drop them in the version you want and write the clan name and save in clanlist

Nothing is workingg , I've attempted at downloading this about 20 times and nothing. I have so many files now. I've downloaded Python and pygame too.
If you have installed Python and pygame you should be able to run main.py directly with Python and it will work

Are you having a problem when you try running main.py? You may need to run 'pip install pygame' in your terminal if you have not already.
