you can play using a thing called wineskin winery https://sourceforge.net/projects/wineskin/ I've used for every mod i have so far (except b-sides) and it's worked really well. just find a tutorial on youtube

what are the indev versions for?
It's an "unstable" release, but has a LOT more features. I recommend it honestly, because it seems like a direct upgrade to me.
