You really should, it would make the game a lot funnier. Call me crazy but i would actually play this game daily if i could add images even if it's made in the worst way possible.
You're right. This chess game has too many rules. Why can't I add/remove pieces? The board? Why can't I move pieces deeper into or out of the screen? These unspoken rules are imposed on us unfairly. We need to escape the matrix.
There's a way to add and remove pieces now. While dragging, press the SPACE key to clone the piece you're dragging. Press the X key to delete the piece you're dragging.

This is a common misconception. There are no rules against flinging the pieces out of the window. In practice, you are still playing No Rules Chess. We are all playing No Rules Chess, indefinitely.

you should add a custom image adder that uses image urls
A great idea! I was thinking of implementing drag and drop, so you can just drop an image directly onto the board. It would take some work though. :)

It has been done! :) You can do it either by copy-pasting or dragging and dropping an image onto the board.
