Might unironically be my favourite of the jam so far. Creative, fun, colorful and fully working game. Extra points for making gb game, i have also tried that myself in a past and it has its own difficulties

I left it grinding and reached the space. it was cool... dunno if it was worth of 6hours wait

I mean it was annoying... but that was the point so idk .. :D

Some audio would make game much better already. I was able to finish it, but mainly because the first 400 hp of the enemy its not worth to avoid attacks and best strat is to tank damage and stay in place shooting consistently to kill the boss, and start avoiding when game gets hard.

Simon says is always fun gameplay and art was ummm interesting :D I mean very good visuals and polish overall

Well it was a game... i found 4 gems but wasnt able to find 5th one :( Good job finishing a game!

I mean it was nice to see game including different gamemodes and it sure fit the theme of the jam well so good job. Ofc lots of polishing and removing clunkyness was needed but thats normal with beginners with gamejams

I mean music was banger :D and game was kinda fun even tho it doesnt have much content...

Pretty fun and interesting platformer. Ofc controls and level design can be improved a ton(character has very high accelration, some ceilings block your jumps etc...) but game was short and visually well done so it didnt get too annoying. Keep making games you have potential!

I mean.. it could benefit from some playtesting/controller tweaking because it was pretty frustrating now. Still cool that you managed to submit game!

The ending is actually clever. Controls could be improved(check this video for example)

but otherwise fun and good game with good visual

Really well polished game. I just dont like the gameplay of this kind of puzzlegames tbh but I can still appreciate the effort lol :D

wow.... didnt expect full story out of jam game... rly enjoyable and interesting experience. Only real feedback would be some QoL like autofill like cmd has(so just writing necessery amount of letters is enough) and being able to select old commands with up arrow(also in cmd) would have been helpful but other than that rly nice!

Good use of assets and nice and simple game. Also music was nice. Otherwise not lot to say about, its very simple and works. One problem I had was that movement was kinda unnecessary slow and it made it a bit tedious to play trough.

Game was visually pretty polished but it clearly lacked playtesting. First of all I don't know was the 'die to switch element' gimmick even needed, or could manual switching been better for the game. Also I think some enemies were harder than actual bosses, and overall difficulty curve wasnt polished enough. On the other hand game was pretty long and had many elemental powers and bosses etc... which is kinda unnecessery for a jam game. Maybe try to focus on polishing smaller game next time than doing lots of content:

Overall i still had fun time with the game and it is a great entry!

Stream live https://www.twitch.tv/tipu_real

gonna start little later sorry. Like 10min delay..

I will be streaming jam games at https://www.twitch.tv/tipu_real in about half an hour from now (so 2:30 PM GMT). I'll focus games in this order:

1 the jammers who have left feedback for my game: https://itch.io/jam/zeno-jam-8/rate/2685630

2 ppl in twitch chat

3 cool looking games

4 ppl who comment on this post

So in other words, dont bother posting your game here, and instead go try my game and rate it or if you dont have time for that just hop on stream. I'll do mix commentary of English/Finnish but just say hi in english to chat and ill change language asap, so dont be scared if im speaking finnish when you join!

the owner of the jam literally confirmed the reason with the second commend on this thread. What part of it is hard to understand

Thx for the kind words. Yeah the music was pretty rushed because neither of the main devs could do music so we asked our friend kinda last minute to do something for the game and the loop is like 20seconds or something lol :P.

About the 'beginners game jam', we are not rly beginners, and have made multiple jamgames already, but i mean we havent studied gamedesign or gamemaking or arent professionals by any means, so depends on the point of view.

Ps. We might be updating the game a bit in future so stay tuned(maybe devlog here or something if we decide to continue the project)

-Tipu, programmer of this game

..... what are you trying to achieve. Even if rules didnt state it correctly they also say 'mods have rights to be mods' basicly so if you are disqualified you are. Thats it. Simple

Game was overall fun and very polished to a jam entry.

Okay so feedback/critique:

-Players (me included) usually start by exploring interesting places, so i was dumb and missed key completly, and searched the maze, the plane, and the treehouse all before seeing it:D. It kinda payed off tho because now i knew the locations, but still its one thing to keep in mind. Otherwise, searching items was easy enough to be fun !

-The controls are very wierd where mouse kinda affect your move direction but not rly, in the end it isnt as pleasant as it could be

-Music gets little bit annoying, but it fits to the game otherwise very well ngl

- I mean... its not very creative for a jam about innovativity... but i mean neither is our game so who im gonna blame here :D.

U challenged me, i took that personally.

lv1

lv2

lv3

Okay but seriously i grinded this game for like  90 minutes to get those:DD. Its not easy and ur times werent easy to beat.

Fun fact... that level 1 time i got pretty early on my grind, and while trying to get run on lv2 and 3 that i would be proud with, i came back to lv1 just to see if i could improve. Only thing i learned was how amazing that 14.1 was.... seriously its my only sub 15 in the whole level after hundreds attempts. No idea how i could pull it off.

Because of luck in first level the hardest grind i had was in second lvl where getting sub 15 took eternity. now i have kinda good strats tho and i think there is one wall parry too much in the run so it can be improves.

With level 3 almost happened the same as with level one because i got 8.9 very early and wasnt able to replicate that for a long time. Then something amazing happened and  i got that time. Sub 8.5 might be possible but thats about the limit the level can go...

anyways, i might have problem speedrunning dumb jam games(im not certainly done that with any other game ever :eyes:

Idk if its 'good' ending, but after u play long enough without dying you get special ending with proper content.

Very good idea. Has potential for expanding to bigger game.

Some critique (every other stuff is great, so i dont have to talk about them):

-Smoke autofilling is sometimes annoyingly slow

-The game could have more variety, some interesting enemy setups that require certain stradegy(and more enemy types helps this)(ofc i understand the time limit)

-the long sight enemy should show where he looks next, also maybe all enemies should show that idk

Otherwise rly fun and nice game

peak gameplay, surprised if u dont get to mark top 20.

anyways, with never played jump king(i have watched some speedruns of jumpking and played getting over it myself tho), this game was cool, its not ver ycreative but i mean combining stelath with the main mechanic was a clever twist, overall, had fun despite the difficulty of the game. Roof blocking jump felt annoying but i think that was the point, maybe some bonk sound effect could have made that feel more intentional design than annoying shit. also it helped me in lot of points so dont remove it :D. yeah umm maybe rate my game too, i spend just 40 mins on yours :D

IM FUCKING LEGEND OMFG

Art is cool but im still not sure what i was supposed to do. I got stuck inbetween my onw buildings and idk why would i even build those. Make  clear tutorial next time and remember to playtest <3

Fun, interesting, but it couldve had more balancing, idk, i feel like seeing the risk wouldve been nice and also, i didnt get sued in ifrst 15 days and then like 3 times a row, so maybe my luck was just ruining my experience, fun idea tho and good job

Music got bit repetitive, but art was rly cool

I mean game is pretty simple, but it works, its fun, and it doesnt have anything that annoys me like some overscoped games do. It perfectly accomplishes what it tries to do. Also respect for doing atari game

so enjoyable and polished gameplay makes this actually so fun in its simplicity. Only problems are that 1. game hardness increases bit too low for me, but maybe im just too good. 2. I lost at 2:30 mark around 100 balls dodged to enemy throwing 3 bals at every row(there mightve been slight delay, but it felt rly unfair compared what had come before that),,, and now i had to start over which didnt feel any fun anymore
Besides that, great and underrated entry!

Fun way to make minesweeper even harder and kinda stressful because  u have to focus all the time. Still, minesweeper has its own problems which make the game harder to enjoy :D. but good idea anyways

also the game logo is amazing, why doesnt all art look like that :D

so here I am falling down upside down with infinite deahts, U wonder how i got here? Idk even myself, game was buggy and unclear, but it had nice charm. Keep working on games, u will get there buddy!

cool pixel art but game is way too buggy, couldnt go past level 3 because game changed one blocks gravity to wrong direction and another time i was focusing on bottom sfcreen and top character just disappeared :DDD, anyway the thing that is even bigger problem i think that u dont use the idea of 2 levels at the same time at all, there is nothing interesting in gimmick that doesnt add anything to the game(atleast in 3 first levels, and IMO first level should already show that) u can just play as one side and then as the other, so next time if u have good idea like this, make sure you take everything u can out of it

yup :D

The idea is super well made and fits theme perfectly. easy 5/5 on that. excecution tho... it is clever and fun at first, but holy shiiiiii it need so much more playtesting/balancing to be enjoyable. Losing points was annoying, there was too much to handle, hitboxes to click were too small, and the way u got points from moles wasnt the first way to come to my mind. also some more feedback with sounds wouldve been nice, sound are rly important. anyway, nice idea, next time spare some time to playtesting and u can get easy win with these kind of ideas.

Also this is still underrated af, 3 reviews??? u should advertise more

As a fnaf enjoyer, the pizzeria was cool. Idk, i dont need to tell you lot of feedback there is 150 comments....

ALSO i hope someone has mentioned already, but plz, be aware of bug that lets u run faster when holding 2 directions at same time(for example up and right), its very usual beginner mistake and it isnt big deal with this game but u need to be aware of it and learn to avoid it<3

Achievements was clever and unexpected add to a jam game. Otherwise, i had no idea how to actually get points other than just running around and barking and collecting the stuff. So some tutorial wouldve been maybe nice. Also i may had found bug where i was able to get points just running back and fourth on top of few bushes. Polish was solid, with bot hart and music serving their purpose.
