following itch stuff better

hello

i'm trying to follow itch releases and just general community content better, but i use virtually no social media. I know itch releases monthly videos of new content and stuff like that on youtube but i don't use youtube either. I know itch uses the "itch blog" to post, which as far as i can tell is just occasional posts on the front page or am I missing something else? Is there some other way or other blog or something like that I can use to follow general updates? like is there somewhere that posts every time there's a new youtube video they upload so i can just follow the link, or general updates? Or is it just social media?

thx

Not that I know of, sorry. I would’ve thought the Featured Games list on the front page would be the same as what’s on the YouTube channel, but it appears not.

If you get a RSS feed reader extension for your browser, you can try subscribing to the itch YouTube RSS feed https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC64fwl47Wrc6VJcskll7vsA

YouTube still has RSS? What great news!

oh thats actually very helpful, i'll try that thanks! i miss the days of blogs and newsletters :( i really can't stand going to any major media/social media websites

Their twitter feed is very active, seems to be posting about new games every few hours https://twitter.com/itchio

But I'm not on social media, either, I just use the brute-force method of manually refreshing Recent Posts in this forum, which shows a bunch of stuff I'm not interested in (block doesn't block at that level) A smarter approach would be to use the Subscribe to New Topics option in, for example, New Releases (I know that works because I've activated it accidently a few times).

does subscribing give you notifications of some kind in the twitch app? or emails...? or something?

I have emails turned off, so I just get notifications via the alert at top of the browser or (I presume) the itchio app, but looks like you can control that here https://itch.io/user/settings/email-notifications

As far as I know, the only way to interact with people on this website is by using these forums or by commenting on uploaded content (basically more forums). Most of the time it feels like tucking a message in a bottle and floating it across the ocean, hoping somebody will find it on the other side

I ain't sure about this one but I am pretty sure you can use the website itself and see community posts or other things like featured games or new content etc, their discord is also a good place to get updates and stuff
