Absolutely in love with this game! The atmosphere is top notch and the story had me gripped beginning to end! Love the themes and how they're presented, love the quick time decisions that really made me feel the danger and urgency of the situation!

My only issues stem from the ending feeling a little rushed and Rich & Pux looking a little too similar.

Overall though, really fantastic work with phenomenal writing! Keep doing what you're doing!

I recently released Tea Hunt R. Its a fast paced free browser game where you play as a living kettle and chase tea cups in order to fill up as many as possible before time runs out!

This was originally a submission for Trijam a while back but I've gone back to it and improved it a ton, adding some new mechanics like ammo and a time stopping power up!

This is my first truly complete project and I hope you enjoy it, Id greatly appreciate any feedback as well! :)

Shape Shifters is a free Metroidvania with a combat focus, and the first chapter is playable now!

I'm a solo dev and this game has been a passion project for me. I plan to keep updating the game, with this chapter only being a fraction of what will be available at full release!

You can download the game and play now here:

Feedback and criticism always appreciated. Thank you for playing!

Hi! Thank you so much for the incredibly insightful feedback! I have one question, specifically about the rigged character model stuff, the premise of the game is that it takes place in a world of shapes, hence why you play as a cube.

Do you think animation and game feel/flow could be improved within that premise where the player character and most other characters are still shapes?

Or is it simply too limiting and it could never be brought up to par with games that use humanlike character models?

Thank you so much! This was very helpful, and Ive already started working on fixing some of the issues you had. :)

This game is pretty fantastic overall.

I found the gameplay loop of doing everything you can with your stats in a day and then resting and then going again and slowly progressing through the quests to be pretty addictive!

The art style is really unique and the backgrounds are very pleasant to look at. The enemies were similarly unique and quirky, and the added voice acting was a very cute touch.

The combat is okay. It 100% needs some form of tutorial though because the first time I got into a battle I had no idea what to do. The combat UI is a bunch of symbols and most people wont know what to do unless its explained. I also felt that combat wasnt very rewarding other than needing to be dome to continue gathering.

I love the puzzles and the quests and the way you sort of have to figure things out yourself.

Its really a great job, can't wait to see more of this game in the future! :)

Yeah, maybe its because I grew up with Wizard101, and no I didnt feel the game was dragging. I guess theres benefits to both, it ultimately comes down to whatever your vision is. I guess for me, having a turn timer would make the battles feel more dynamic.

It adds a new layer of strategy, the player has to not only act smart but be quick, and implement the timer into their thought process.

It doesnt have to necessarily be a timer though, another good implementation and forgive me if its already there and I didnt notice it, but maybe something that showed turn order or an ATB like system would also work by making the player have to think deeper about what enemy should be prioritized or ignored for the time being based on their turn order or speed if talking ATB.

Love the artstyle and the way things move, reminds me of old flash games. Augments add some really nice build variety, it would be cool to have some sort of turn timer to incentivize quick but strategic decisions.

Cool game! It has lots of potential, Ive always loved games where you play as some sort of animal. I like the art style though it could be a little more detailed. Some things you could do to make the flying more fun is maybe make Nox's speed boost faster and give it its own animation. Also taller buildings or having to flying through the inside of houses would be phenomenal, could hide items in them too!

Really great game with beautiful visuals. I love all the models for the cute animals sooo much! I felt the movement was a little slow though, maybe not just the cat but I think everything needs a movement speed increase to make the gameplay more exciting. I fought the dragon miniboss and it was a great spectacle! But I wish the fire rain from the sky had a little bit of tracking so id have to avoid it more, it always spawned around my cat and never on it.

Hello! This is a free Metroidvania game I've been working on for a while. You play in a world inhabited by shapes and dive deep into a cave to uncover the worlds secrets! It is nowhere near complete but the game is stable and playable.

I am looking for feedback on the gameplay and visuals. Thank you very much if you decide to try it out!

Post details about any feedback and bugs you might find while playing!

My game :)

Loved the models for the tea cups! The overall aesthetic is very nice. gameplay was fun but I think itd be better if the player could choose when to shoot instead of it being automatic.

Great concept, graphically the game is very polished. I think the gameplay wouldve been more fun for me personally if I could move the ninja star.

Cool idea! I think it wouldve been better if I could make my character run even faster than the default, then the gameplay wouldve been exhilarating!

Very cool concept and unique gameplay! It is difficult but not in a bad way, personally I thought it was great!

Wow! Very intense game. I like the simplistic and chill art style and the concept was fun, but yeah as others have mentioned it is hard to figure out what im supposed to do at first.

Love the pixel art and sounds! However, I think the timer should have been shorter to make the game feel more intense, I figured out which leaf was safe long before time was up. Not a big issue though, very enjoyable short game :)

Heres mine!

I'll be checking tons of games out tomorrow! :)

Shape Shifters takes place in a world of........shapes. You play as Fora, a cube on a mission to destroy the Mutants, creatures who feed on shapes and assimilate them.

Throughout the game you'll explore the Mutantlands and the great caverns beneath. As like any good Metroidvania there are tons of side paths and ways to explore, you never know what you may find.

Is the idea....in all honesty I am a fledging developer and Shape Shifters is the first game I've ever even attempted to make. The combat is that of an action game with several combos you can unleash on enemies and a character upgrade system that offers some build diversity.

The game is still very much unfinished but is being updated regularly. I hope to make a game everyone can enjoy with fun combat, meaningful exploration, and an engaging story.

Any and all constructive feedback is greatly appreciated and that will be reflected in the games updates!

Shape Shifters is a free game and it always will be.

Hello! I'm Purple and this is my first Devtober! Actually it's my first time developing a game at all.

I'm making an action RPG sidescroller called Shape Shifters using Unity.

I decided to make it about Shapes because I couldn't do art to save my life, but I've tried my best to make it a positive and implement the shape idea into the story and the core game mechanics!

I plan on making a story rich experience since it's always been my dream to be able to tell stories and I believe video games are the greatest medium for that. Of course that doesn't mean I'm neglecting combat and gameplay. Ive tried my best combat to feel fast, snappy, smooth, and engaging all around!

If you're interested you can find my more in-depth devlogs here:
