Thanks for the feedback! We had a lot of back and forth on the bonus blocks so it works differently in the 2 modes. Initially we were planning to make it line up more like Tetris, so that may have also added to the confusion. It seems like the block placement should somehow affect gameplay... but not quite sure how to bring it in other than using it to sort by size maybe...

We definitely wanted to do a tutorial mode to introduce the mechanics better and a leaderboard and all that but you know how it goes!

This was fun and challenging! An untimed / chill out mode would have been nice.

Very well done!

This game looked awesome and was pretty fun! The controls were a bit of a struggle, walking mode felt sluggish and rolling mode was a bit frenetic.

All in all though, it's a great game! Really enjoyed the animated cut scene at the beginning :-D

Glad you got the hang of the controls. It definitely seems to have been a bit more confusing than expected. Some visual cues would have helped.

Thanks!

The sound levels were definitely a challenge and part of the tuning that could definitely used more cycles. Thanks for the feedback (get it? sound effects, feedback 😅)

The mechanic for the box moving seems to have been the most confusing aspect. You can really click and drag anywhere, the effect is based on the direction from wherever you click. In retrospect a visual clue would have been helpful.

Thanks! Yes... we made a last minute decision to re-tile the "quest mode" and some of them were ok at 512x512 but on screen they definitely can be difficult to separate out.

It was surprising how much time it took for sound effects. Glad you liked them :-D

Thanks! It was to work out, but we manage to get it done by the deadline somehow!

I really like the idea of getting to fat and exploding 💥! The ghost  character was super cute 👻!

This was really fun to play! The feeling of sluggishness as you get too big was a great mechanic. The music was also really good. Would have liked to see a bit more of a cloth simulation on the ghostie and mouse controls would nice.

All in all, good job!

This was a fun one! I wish I was better at it!

This was a fun game to play! The voice acting and the music were awesome! I really liked the cut-out characters and svg feel of the environment

This is some serious low-fi art! Some of the puzzles 🧩are real head scrachers. Definitely going to be spending more time trying to beat it :-D

Do you have any recommendations for controllers?

Thanks ! Glad you liked it 😀

The game modes and levels are configurable 🛠️ and we may have run afoul of making it too difficult to move things from having played it so much and not want it to be too easy. We talked about having it be smarter about block selection but just didn't get around to it before the deadline.

Hit a bit of project fatigue 😵‍💫, but definitely planning on continuing it 💪

Thanks! Probably like most, it was a struggle to stop adding features and focus on play testing. Definitely planning to keep working on it. There are already a couple of bug fixes in github for "oh, dang that wasn't working?" type issues 😅

Nice! Scale Tale 🦎 ⋆⭒˚。⋆ was a lot of fun! It actually ran really well with wine under Linux.

Looking forward playing it more once I get a controller 🎮 😊

Wow! This is awesome! Really enjoyed the low poly look and re-scaling the box I was standing on was super fun! The menu and save systems were also very well done. Makes we want to get a controller now

Had a few camera clips especially in the tutorial valley.  Once the skeletons were small, I had a hard time judging their position to jump on them and a few of my bombs didn't go off for some reason.

All in all, really well done!

Hey... I'm sorry I haven't been able to get it running yet. Both the Mac version of the game gave me "Bad CPU type in executable." Under Windows (7) it tried to install some Unreal libraries but I guess the machine is just too crufty.

I'll keep trying! It just may take a bit longer than expected

Really enjoyed playing this. It reminded me a bit of the combat in Betrayal at Krondor. Definitely will be spending more time in it. Music was really soothing.

On the technical side, I'm in awe of the menu system and information panels! All very nicely done

It's definitely proving a challenging mechanic! It's not so much clicking and dragging the boxes as tossing them around by frantically clicking anywhere on the screen then dragging and quickly releasing the mouse to fling them around.

Lol, it sounds a little crazy🤪 but with some practice you can actually throw them up pretty high.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out and the great feedback 🙌

I really the abstract look of the game. Never could seem to figure out how to aim. I managed to take down a few enemies but mostly just ran away in terror. The menus were also very slick. Really hope you carry this game forward.

I really liked the time manipulation aspect, very cool, little confusing. The retro look and parallax were very well done!

Scaletris is a puzzle game where you have to scale pairs of blocks to match them and clear levels. In classic mode, each level has a special non-scalable bonus block that needs to be collected in the area to the right of play. In quest mode green allies help battle red enemies as you collect bags of gold coins to earn bonus levels. Passing bonus levels grants an extra life to replay failed levels.

Scaletris ⚖️ was made in Godot! Check us out: https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2023/rate/2396322 😁

The music and sound were really nice. The animation on the blocks was also very satisfying. Really appreciate the coop mechanic and the game play was really clever. Well done!

Really liked the music and the pixel art was awesome

Really love the art style and the 8-bit sound track! The tutorial was really well done and the overall feel of the game is great. I had some trouble with the controls but still had a lot of fun

Thanks! Really glad you liked it! There's definitely a learning curve! Its funny the logo looks like Mahjong  😅 May need a redesign

The music is all from pixabay which has a lot of really amazing content. Really need to clean it up, but here is a list of assets for sound and music: https://github.com/loose-bit-labs/scaletris/blob/main/CREDITS.md

Oh, right, yeah! Those are the bonus blocks! You have to deposit them in the little area on the side of the screen to unlock a bonus level
