PLEASE INSERT DISC 2

Generally speaking, the game is the thing. Whatever the designer(s) intended for a work, once it leaves their heads and lands on someone else's table, their part is done and speaking further only diminishes the game's possibilities in the minds of players.

But sometimes...

Sometimes you have a little more to say.  The Disc 2 TTRPG Jam is all about supplementing the experience of an existing game with insights, commentary, points of view, history, and trivia. Whether you choose to embellish your crown jewel or shine a light on an underrated gem, this is your opportunity to lavish your darling with all the extra attention it deserves.

SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE...

Give your game the Disc 2 Special Features treatment, whatever that means to you. Everything from the serious to the silly is fair game. Want to add commentary in the margins of a game you've already published? Throw in a PDF of "deleted scenes"? Grab some designer friends and record audio commentary? Make extra features for a game that doesn't actually exist? It's all fair game.

Shine a light on a favorite game of yours, unpack what decisions you made and why, explain the inspiration behind a bespoke mechanic, or just have a good time goofing off about your own work. This is a good vibes jam, and so long as you're hitting that mark (and the rules below), you're golden.

PRIZING

There is no monetary or physical reward for the jam - this is for the love of the game, so to speak. That said, I'll highlight my favorite entries (which may well be all of them) in my newsletter, which people seem to enjoy.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Just a few guidelines so we're all working in the same play space!

  1. Submissions to the jam should be either expansion of an existing game with "extra features," or a new game with expanded material. What constitutes "extra features" is up to you, but check the above for examples.
  2. Submission style is the desiger's choosing: an update to a existing game file, additional file(s) added to an existing game page, a new/separate game page commenting on another, etc. Don't feel confined to PDFs if another format makes more sense.
  3. You don't just have to supplement an existing game. Your submission can be additional features for a new game you're releasing during the window of the jam.  You could also conjure up extra features for a game that does not actually exist. That sounds pretty fun, actually!
  4. No AI-generated material of any kind.
