this is so cursed and I love it. image.png

what a brilliant idea for a game. it’s really well implemented, and the randomization gives it a lot of replayability. I’ll definitely play this more if the crashing is fixed in a post-jam update. I wish I could see which pixel I’m drawing/erasing on each of the affected letters, as it’s sometimes hard to tell at a glance, and I don’t want to count pixels.

also, I wanted to comment on the empty row of pixels at the bottom of every letter, only used by Q’s tail… it’s rather awkward. I’m not sure how it can be remedied, but it enabled this mindless strategy: image.png

I'm really glad you liked it, and that you found it cursed. I'm planning on releasing another version once the voting period ends adding suggestions and fixing the crash. I will definitely add the preview, great idea!

The bottom row thing I didn't find a good solution at the time, maybe just removing the possibility to draw it, and that the last pixel from Q can't be removed

I uploaded a web version with the crash fixed and other updates if you are interested

nice update, great work! the added pixel preview is wonderful, and your solution to the Q-problem is very elegant — it even made vertical flips more predictable, which was nice to see.

if you’re still working on the game, I have two suggestions for the “game over” score screen:

  • a max score next to the achieved score would make the score more understandable, e.g. “letter readability: 17.55/26.00” or something like that.
  • it would be nice to see the resulting alphabet and individual letter scores (basically the same alphabet-view that is using during gameplay).

by the way, how is the poem score calculated? it says “accuracy”, but I assume it’s also based on how many letters/words/poems I write in time.

that was really fun! it really scratches that perfect optimization part of my brain

Thanks, cool to know that you liked it, when the voting period ends I will probably come back and polish the gameplay so that it's more interesting to optimize

I uploaded a web version with the crash fixed and other updates if you are interested, but I didn't really added more gameplay, rather polished the UX

this is so fun thank you

Developer

Thanks for playing it, I'm happy that you had fun. It was also really fun to make

Such a cool idea! My font was suprisingly readable, my biggest problem was that my T's started to look like M's

When playing the game crashed two times, both when I clicked a letter to completely erase/fill (happend on both variants)

Developer

Glad you liked it! Sorry for the bug, I found It after uploading the game unfortunately, but I will upload a fixed version once the voting period ends

This is such a cool idea, and quite addicting to try and get better scores each time! Small suggestion would be to mention in the bonus round instructions that it is timed - maybe just me, but I was so focused on reading the sentence I didn't initially spot the (admittedly pretty big) timer on the side 😂

Glad you liked it. Yeah it kind of is a surprise, that's a really good idea, thanks! When the voting ends maybe I will come back to make some changes and bugfixes. Adding this to the list

Really great concept. Would be super cool to see what other ways letters could be altered if you had more time with it. Also really straightforward gameplay which was nice!

Thanks!! Maybe when the voting period ends I expand on the mechanics
