  • Controls/mechanics needs some polishing, vehicle feels a bit too bouncy.  Good effort however on controls, the aiming and mouse+keyboard controls, explosions and spawning of enemies.

I played your game and first of all I would like to say your Main Menu music made me laugh a few seconds so first impressions were good, always a good start.

The concept is certainly different to what I have seen submitted, I will begin with some of the smaller elements of the game, the music during gameplay was at a nice and low level which did not dominate the other sounds which appeared to work well.  Although the textures on the models and the models themselves were basic I felt they fitted the environment well.  The effects of the explosions and bullets worked nicely and the AI of the enemy appeared to work well.

There was some strange minor issues with the game, the water reflection seemed to work on and off showing some strange environment reflections and sometimes it had no reflection so it did cause a bit of eye strain, the Humvee movement is certainly animated and I could spin all over the place including the NPC's, it was almost like a ballet but I was pleased to see the vehicles do not topple over and put themselves back upright if things get a little crazy.

The UI is also very good, simple menu buttons including a quit button and a HUD showing details of what is happening in-game, I could not see why I had a UI showing my Humvee as it was just there always white but I am guessing it was health but I didn't see any difference.

Sadly there was no documentation added to your submission which is a shame as I was looking forward to seeing your stages of construction, paperwork can be a bit of a chore but in this example it would have been a lot of fun to see and having this on hand helps to support your work.

    Summary

I enjoyed this game very much, it was fun and different and is something you would want to continue playing after a first few plays.  There is certainly room for improvement but then again there always will be in game development.  As a YouTuber and game developer myself we consider it a pleasure to try your games and I am pleased to have had the opportunity to try your game.

    Thank you.

  • Remarkable job on this one.
There is definitely a great deal of good effort gone into the development.
I particularly appreciated the art of this game, the choice of textures and lighting, the special effects, the levels layout and composition, the colour palette choice and the post processing touches.. all shows a very good sense for what a game should look and feel and the ability to execute on it which are rare qualities that tell a regular games programmer from a games developer. Well done on that!
The only part that's a bit lacking, I would say, is the vehicles dynamics and camera movement . The general game loop is well defined and the game-play idea is robust, but the general feel I got from driving around and aiming wasn't as pleasing as the rest of the game. Much of the frustration came from trying to drive and aim correctly. It is always tricky to control a vehicle with a turret, the vehicle has to be more responsive and manoeuvrable in my opinion as you are mostly focused on aiming at targets and it needs to be easier to keep them in range.
In my experience getting vehicle physics right requires a great deal of iteration and tweaking so I'm confident that with some more work you would have nailed it eventually.
The sense of fun and challenge could be greatly improved by AI vehicles moving in a more coherent and natural way (they tend to drive into mountains and get stuck there and generally do silly things).
I didn't get the chance to play 1v1 version with a human opponent unfortunately, for lack of a second player, but the observations above apply to the 1v1 level as well. A video that demonstrate some 1v1 game-play could be of help for people that are not able to test it for themselves.
All in all Remain in Conflict shows a notable amount of knowledge both of the technology and the art aspects of games development. I would definitely put in the extra work needed to reach the perfect game-play as I believe the game has the potential to be quite a bit of fun to play!
