The game, originally developed for Windows phone, seems to be quite difficult to develop further. That's why it will now be free.

RiverDrive is an old retro game project from Windows Phone, originally full project, developed with XNA and C#. This version is at early stage, developed using Monogame. We will develop the game further and for the bigger screen.

Maybe, some day we'll have a better solution available.

Finnish IT journal TiVi has published an article in English (originally published in Finnish in the computer magazine MikroBitti). You can read it if  you sign in with an Alma account. I hope signing up is possible not depending where you are from. For copyright reasons I'm not able to show the text.

(They mentioned us, too.)

Now for Windows!

Original retro game from Windows Phone platform. Developed anew using Monogame.

Under development, we are going to make it suitable for a larger screen, among other issues.

In the RiverDrive game, the river is always changing; you cannot learn the route – it’s always new!

The player increases the score by hitting colored buoys. Avoid the black mines! If you hit a mine or the shore, your boat will weaken by explosions bit by bit. There are also gate locks on the way, to be steered through with correct timing. Other obstacles are ferries and boats. You have to hit a gas station to pick fuel for your boat regularly and get your boat repaired at the dock. Otherwise you'll have to be rescued by the River Guard – and you lose your points and skill level!

Dodge mines, pick up fuel, and watch for oncoming traffic. Take care to time when you enter the river locks or risk a collision!

Be careful of ferries crossing the river too, and keep an eye out for repair stations - if your condition reaches zero, you will need rescuing!
