- ABOUT -

Velox Formido is a challenge edition of Velox Fabula (or "Quick Story"), which is a ranked jam about making a complete visual novel in a short amount of time. The Velox Fabula jam series is heavily inspired by Ludum Dare, a global game jam about making a game from scratch based on a certain theme in a short amount of time. We highly encourage participants in this jam to check out that jam as well! Take a look at some VN examples from one of their recent jams!

The Velox Formido edition adds the following two modifications:

  1. You must complete the game in 36 hours, and
  2. You must incorporate at least 2 of the top 5 community-selected themes into  your project.

- THEME -

The top 5 themes are revealed at the start of the jam. Voting will be held across several rounds in the week leading up to the jam starting. Until then, you can submit theme ideas here. Hosts may discard certain themes if we feel they are too limiting/inappropriate, but this is rare.

Good theme ideas should be ones that are broad and allow for narrative creativity. Some good examples are:

  •  Bad directions
  • Fuzzy outlines
  • Mixed genres

Previous themes in the Velox Fabula series will not be permitted. Previous themes:

- VOTING -

Voting will be held for 2 weeks after the jam submission window closes. Your rank in each category is determined based on votes from your fellow  **submitters**  -- only the person who submits the game is given the ability to vote. If we do not receive more than 10 entries, we will only announce 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in all categories.

Categories include:

  • Overall
  • Narrative
  • Visuals
  • Sound
  • Theme Incorporation
