Ahhh, the beauty of spring: when snow melts, flowers bloom, birds fly back home — and humans roll up their sleeves to dual-wield rags and spray bottles.

But why limit cleaning to just your physical possessions? While you're opening your windows to freshen up your bedroom air, open some windows on your computer to freshen up your docs! Let's crack our knuckles, don our aprons and headbands, and clean up our games!

Ideas of how to use this jam:

  • ๐Ÿงน Tidy up your dusty WIP notebook by finally publishing that sketch you keep meaning to
  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Give away that old idea you haven't touched for years, letting others land a thrift score
  • โ™ป๏ธ Revamp that game in your library you've marked to fix, tweak, expand, or prettify
  • ๐Ÿงผ Scrub out something you've grown to realize is problematic from a game you still love
  • ๐Ÿ“ Straighten up a game's layout or formatting to make it easier to read, use, and/or access

Or of course, you could create a new game using "spring cleaning" as the theme. (A game that helps you get your chores done? A game where cleaning is an epic act of heroism? A game about cleaning the actual concept of spring? A game about how Spring herself cleans?) There's quite a bit of fertile ground here for new games to sprout!

HOWEVER...
I'd advise first pausing to reflect on if you want to commit to creating additional projects. I won't stop you if that's truly your desire! But in many ways, this jam is more of an "anti-jam": a chance to take stock of what we already have, to appreciate our present and bring new life to our past, instead of rushing to always have More™. Spring is a time of rebirth, of waking up from hibernation, of returning to the vibrant world after its dark vacation — the perfect opportunity to look at your surroundings with reinvigorated appreciation, giving fresh light and life to what winter withered and dimmed. So much can change without anything new!

RULES

  1. Submit whatever you want: games, add-ons, poems, songs, drafts, doodles, chore logs, etc. I'm approaching this from a TTRPG focus, but there's no reason to limit this jam's palette. And yes, that also means our jammer palette: this is a safe space for marginalized minorities of all types.
    Spring is colorful! ๐ŸŒˆ
  2. Submit as many things as you want. (Just don't spam! This is a jam, not a commercial.) There's no ranking, voting, or other victory conditions beyond those you define for yourself. That being said, it doesn't hurt to support others with ratings, comments, and discussion.
    Spring is plentiful! ๐Ÿ’
  3. Until they find a way to make AI art without corporations exploiting the art community, it's not allowed here. This is not the place to debate its ethics; any attempts to do so will be removed. Any art you use should be your own or properly crediting its human maker.
    Spring is alive! ๐Ÿ‡
  4. Don't be an asshole. Nothing is allowed that embodies or promotes hatred, bigotry, oppression, or any other violence against the vulnerable. If you or your submission is found to be harmful, I have no issue with removing either without warning to protect our values.
    Spring is love! ๐ŸŒผ
