oh wow, loved the aesthetics and music, the UI looks so professional. amazing job!! I am terrible captain, didn't get so much dubloons. :(

The steering is quite good. I can feel the strength put on the wheel. Nice work!

Loved the music, it's really fitting the game! And steering the ship was also satisfying, good job :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you liked the game. We didn't have time to finish our own pirate song loop, so that one's actually a third-party asset. Wish I could've taken that credit ;3

The coins are a bit small and hard to catch, otherwise a pretty fun fast paced game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing it! The coins seem to be a common grievance, and we definitely agree with you on that haha.

All around well done! Love the pirate theme.

Would be cool if picking up coins had a slightly larger hitbox than the ship itself. Maybe make it as possible upgrade in case you decide to develop it further.

Developer

Thank you! The gameplay needs quite a lot of tuning to make it feel crisp and satisfying, definitely agree with you there.

pretty cool and uneque game!

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Nice! I could see this becoming really popular on mobile. A really clever twist on the classic infinite runner genre to make it pirate themed. The ship steering felt great, and the overall gameplay loop was simple yet effective. I had a little trouble with aiming, but hey, I'm sure it wasn't easy to aim cannons back in the Golden Era either! Great music choice and fantastic 3D models as well. Outstanding work for just 72 hours!

Developer

Thank you for the compliments! Glad you liked it. The inspirations for many parts of the game were definitely mobile games, I think we pulled that part off better that we anticipated. The aiming sucks; it's actually still a placeholder system that we didn't have time to replace haha.

Cool intro, nice gameplay with a risk and payoff system (Very well thought and designed).

Nice fluid controls and a gameloop that hooks you in, congratulations!

Developer

Thank you, and thanks for playing!

Overall nice game! Good application of the theme I would say. I can definitely see this going forward as a mobile game, though the controls could be junky as you are not using strict lane movement, just guessing though have to try it out.

In terms of feedback -

1. More music variation with collision sound effects is required. Maybe it is already there but I did not notice.

2. You are spawning islands in 5 lanes if I am correct. Maybe have a couple of big islands to replace 2/3/4 consecutive islands. Hope that makes sense. And in some cases, you don't have to block 4 lanes, which will bring variations in obstacles.

3. Adding a cloud/fog effect will enhance the look of the game (In my opinion). Maybe add thick fog on the side screen so you cannot see islands that are far away (on L and R sides).

4. And last but not least - !!!!POWERUPS!!!!

Developer

Thanks for playing, and thank you for the feedback! Music and VFX definitely need improvement. The current map generation is hilariously still a placeholder system that we made on the first night XD. It's not using lanes, exactly, but the random spread fields of pickups are actually supposed to have islands in them as well. I took that out temporarily and forgot to put it back in.

Heheh Captain Mew didnt escaped ;-;... i love this idea! :) it would be cool if there are more effects for what is happening but as a jam entery ver cool!

Developer

Thanks for playing it! The game could definitely use more VFX, agree with you there.

My best score: 89

Gameplay: 4

The core endless runner concept with coins is pretty basic, but its a really solid execution, turning the ships feels nice!

Theme: 5

You are escaping from those darn dogs!

Aesthetics: 4

It looks very good, not much to comment on, maybe the ships and islands dissapearing could use some more effects?

Sound: 3

Music with some sound effects, if id have to suggest something id say that the ship colliding with things could make more noise:)

Overall its an excellent submission, i hope you had a lot of fun making this! Also the logo is really cool:) Keep up the good work!

Developer

Thank you for the review! We had a lot of sounds lined up to be implemented, but we ran out of time.

Very nice game! Ship feels great to steer and presentation is top notch!

Developer

Thank you! We definitely spent all the development time on tech, like the nerds we are. Never quite got around to balancing it. The boat physics I wrote had me input the salinity and temperature of the water at one point. Glad I backtracked on that.

Super laggy on chrome but worked fine on firefox. Cannon mechanics were a wee bit confusing to aim and would be nice to have some firing SFX.

Love the aesthetic and concept, pirate cats always get my vote :D

Developer(+1)

Never even tried it on Chrome, both of us ran Firefox haha. The cannon mechanics are definitely subpar, and we meant to change them at some point. Naturally, there was no time for that. Thanks for playing!

Had 1st on the leaderboard, came back an hour later and someone had over 2000. I'll take 3rd . . . for now. Well done on the game! Although the cannon mechanics are a little hard to grasp at first.

Developer

Thanks! The cannon mechanics are actually still a temporary patchwork solution that saw their way all the way to release somehow.
