Title
Hero Selection Process - AVNDR

Description
This song was composed for the Redline Monthly Composing Challenge!

The first thing I thought of that would maybe hit all the requirements would be an anime opening theme. I've never written in this style before despite being a fan, so I really pushed myself to make something that felt good. It came out a little different and ended up being more along the lines of a character select theme I thought, so I went with that for the video submission. I didn't have time to make it as long as I wanted, but I'm proud of my work after having never written in this style before. I am a video Producer/Editor by trade, so I went a little ham on the video, but have been making music for much longer. Hope you like it!

-Amen Break: I did not sample the actual record, but I recreated it.
-Metal Pipes SFX: I sampled a huge wind chime and in the higher registers ended up sounding like an orchestral triangle. I don't know if this counts as well, but I used brass for the first time as well as flute samples along with the meow synth.
-Meow Synth: Unfortunately the original Meow Synth plugin wouldn't work with my 64 bit DAW, and I don't have jbridge to make it work. I did the next best thing and tried my best to recreate it with Serum.

DAW: Cubase
Length: 1:36
All anime style characters are AI generated by Meta AI, and then edited with Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Premiere. I used Meta AI because it was the only one I knew of at the time where I could give prompts and adjust in real-time.

Great intro and what a video!

You're a real eye-opener. I've listened to it several times (also without video for less distraction). The mix is well balanced, the instruments respond well to each other. It's really good.

The section transitions are punchy, and you've thrown in a few ear candies here and there.

The only small detail is the sound of the trumpet at 1'16", which is a little loud and contrasts with the response of the violins.

Otherwise excellent!

Incredibly creative concept, and the song's super engaging! I think it's a little hard to tell where the song incorporates the challenge, but the quality of the music makes it well worth it.

Thank you! I can totally see it being hard to tell where it incorporates the challenge because they're specific parts of the song in my entry, whereas most other entries have featured one or more of the challenge elements all through out. I definitely went the route of incorporating all three but not as major elements since I was trying to challenge myself in the style too. Thanks for the feedback!

Doing this as a character select theme was a great idea, also highlighting the characters with different instruments is cool.  I did feel like the orchestral elements had a slow attack, especially in the intro, which didn't convey the energy the rest of the song. I relate to having that section at the end with unused material lol

That intro definitely had me scratching my head a number of times. I will watch out for that slow attack next time, thank you!
Also glad the idea hit home and that you relate to the idea graveyard haha. Too many neat things shoved in the corner sometimes becayse they don't work.

That really was a lot of effort to put into  the video. Did you make all of the art yourself? because it's really good!

Developer

I made the art with Meta AI cause the ability to just say "okay now more like ___" to the image is really nice. All the characters and the background were made with AI (animeart.studio for the background). It took awhile to get something usable, but they came out really well I think! I definitely spent too much time on it, but I couldn't resist getting the idea out there haha. Thank you!
