I enjoyed how you treated the inquisitor as more a boots-on-the-ground investigator, working with lower-level officials. You also handled the theme well and made the consequences very easy to see. The dialogue felt clunky at times, and I wished there was more to the ending, such as and expansion on the details of the nuclear impact, or at least a sentence describing the search for details. Overall, the only issues I had are ones that can easily be fixed with more practice in writing, keep it up!
Really liked the storytelling here, and I thought the ending "wideshot" from space capped it off nicely!
This was a clean and enjoyable read. I liked getting to follow an Inquisitor and as mentioned by another comment, all the little hints about radiation. Ending from the viewpoint of a ship in orbit was stellar too. The only feedback I might have is that I wish the consequences theme was related to the main character closer, instead of him just dealing with the consequences of others. Still amazing story
I liked this tale a lot. It had enough elements to be its own entity without apeing 40k overly much. Viktor seemed to at least appear to have some respect for those he had to work with, and even a little time to spare to hear out the enemy before executing them. I appreciate that. Even his spitting on a ratmen corpse felt a lot more restrained than some of the more foamy psychopathic ranting main characters I've seen in fiction.
Really cool interpretation of our favorite space-rats. Great work!
