  • Ionclad is a really captivating game which you protect your core from the restless wave of enemy ships coming upon you. You have the energy power which is circular yet when you aim and click, you can channel it onto one way, which is visually really pleasant to see. Music is taking to the deeper, having variety of different attack styles would definitely something I'd look for!

Jam Judge(+3)

Really nice game! I loved the plasma effects, the waves of aliens, the smart bombs and the super-loud thumping music :) I do feel like there just weren't enough friendly ships to help restore your power, so it ended really quite fast, no matter how carefully I tried to manage my shots. Which is a shame, because I wanted to play more and more :)

Developer

Wow thanks so much for playing! I think you’re right, the play testing and balancing got pushed to the end of the jam as it always seems to do 😅

We love working in Phaser. It was super simple to get to grips with, and after many jams we’ve yet to really hit any limits with it. Really appreciate your work 🙏💚

Developer(+1)

Thanks photonstorm! Next time we'll add a volume control 😅

We love Phaser, thanks for making something so awesome!

Jam Judge(+1)

Oh don't worry about that, I loved the loud music! If I want to turn it down, I'll turn it down on my Mac :D

Thanks for playing and the feedback! You're right about the friendly ships, they were a bit of a 'stretch goal' during the jam and got added close to the end so we didn't quite balance for them. Just as my team mates mentioned - thank you so much for the work on Phaser. Over the last couple of years I've used it for multiple game jams and it has helped take me from a complete amateur to a semi-competent coder looking for work. In part because of some of the best documentation I've found.🫡

It’s a unique game, I like the idea of managing your power and sacrificing some of the shield to keep going between enemy waves.

The music and the starting screen is already a banger to me.

I love the color palette of your art here.

The plasma animation is so good.

I think WASD keys are available so I went there lmao.

The death explosion is awesome tho.

The arrow keys are hard to control.

Shields and the beam are great really.

Developer

Oh man, you’re totally right, there was no reason we couldn’t have wasd controls as well as arrows. A good lesson for next time 🙏

Hi!

New High Score: 462060!

I liked spinning in all directions :). I only figured out how to get extra health at the end. Everything is cool. The only thing is that loading was a little long and sometimes hung, probably because of the large number of enemies on the radar :). Congratulations!

Wow I loved everything bout this great work

Very cool visual style that paired well with the music. A part of me wonders if the enemies came at you a bit faster it would have more of a bullet hell kind of vibe. Idk. Good entry.

Developer(+1)

Ohhh I like that idea. It’s always hard to balance be difficulty with these kinds of games, but I can definitely see a faster paced version being super fun!

Really creative concept, well done!

Great game! The sound and VFX make a nice combination. I enjoyed seeing a lot of space ships getting blasted by the tesla coil.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! We’re really happy with how it turned out.

Great music (a bit loud, but I can just reduce the volume on my headest.) Love the tesla coil effect going on, and blasting tons of space ships with a ton of effects are really satisfying.

Developer

So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

I loved it! Music is great, art is great, effects are great and the gameplay is intresting. It's Tempest but reverse and i LOVE Tempest! Manage to do almost 200k. Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Hey that’s a pretty respectable score! Thanks for playing, so glad you enjoyed it ☺️

Cool concept & take on the theme. Soundtrack is hype! The animations & visual effects on the plasma ball are awesome. Game is balanced at a good level of difficulty to be challenging and replayable. Great job!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing!

Really cool to see people enjoying the game, we’re really proud of it ☺️

Visuals goes hard, gameplay goes hard, music goes harder

Developer(+1)

We have our musician a brief description of the game and he wrote it in a day. Dude is an absolute genius.

Submitted(+1)

Wow! The distortion on the blast! Awesome game, good graphics, very hard though. Well done!

Developer

Haha yeah we tried to push ourselves on graphics this time as it’s normally our weakest area.

Thanks for playing!
