Quite a well-made game! Reminds me of 20 Minutes Until Dawn.

Notes (optional)
This is a pixel art action shooter game in which you help a magical anglerfish defeat undead fish. It's my second little project overall and it was good fun to make.

I love the art style and gameplay! This is really polished and amazing!
I wish there was a way to switch which fish powers to use among the ones circling around me since I end up using them all to activate the one I want, such as when I want to save up the red healing ones but I have to use them all to be able to use the powerful orange one.
Overall, this is a really awesome game! :D
Fun gameplay and awesome pixel art. The game feels very polished. Good job!
Wow, this was a wholesome experience. A full game and fully polished. Great art, great audio, great fun. This is nothing you normally see for a game jam. :D I only have two negative points and one idea.
First negative point being that the balancing might be a little bit off and thus the game feels a little bit too easy, especially after you fully upgraded the attack speed. Second is that I only really seldom used the fish powers because they did not feel of much use to me (except the heal).
A nice idea could be to make the fish slots function as a sort of shield. So if an enemy swims into a fish slot circling around you, he gets damage and the fish slot is used.
Great work overall!
Really a great game, I loved the visuals and the sfx are really great. Awsome work with programming as well cause it felt really smooth.
Took me longer than i wish (skill issue) but I did it! 1030 fish defeated and mama fish dead!
Felt so good to get max attack speed! I was bummed that I couldn't keep leveling it up infinitely :D
I was already super leveled up after the 2nd level! Felt like everything at that point after was a cakewalk, but still really satisfying! I actually died on my very first playthrough on level 1, which made me realize it's best to stay far away from projectile enemies. The anglerfish's hit box is just too big to dodge bullets up close. After that lesson, I played a bit more cautiously until I was leveled up, and then i felt like a god. Infinite heals from the fish powers and I was one-shotting everything! Very fun but a little imbalanced :D
The game ran perfectly smooth for me in browser and looked gorgeous. Love the background art and subtle animations! The music was also really nice for atmosphere.
Reaching level 4, I felt a little bit impatient to get to the boss and beat it. Since I was already so incredibly powerful, another level of 5-6 waves felt a bit trivial. But I'm committed to beat this thing!
I did really like how you changed not only the background colors, but the enemy fish as well. The sheer variety of enemies was great! I just wish they posed a bit more challenge after level 1-2.
Awesome game I had a great time playing!
Great Vampire Survivors type gameplay! I think the visuals are the peak of the experience - they're absolutely lovely to look at. There did seem to be some weird power scaling with the difficulty, where you start off crazy weak and then get crazy strong with all of the damage upgrades. Once you get past that wall, the rest of the game feels like a breeze (nothing wrong with that, it feels great to shoot em up).
Congrats on a terrific game!
In term of gameplay, it is very good already. Lots of content to enjoy through. The audio could be a bit more exciting (probably because of the limited time so not big deal) and the graphic is simple yet aesthetic. Some of the UI UX could be improved, such as label what the fish power do (i keep forgot them), current stat and switching the fish power. Overall a great entry!
This was a very fun game. Very good art style as well. However, the enemy fish lurching to attack often became annoying to me. Maybe I'm just bad at the game though...
But overall, you did a good job!
Fun game! I really like your particle effects, and everything feels very cohesive.
Suggestions:
- The first level felt a little too long to me, it might be nicer as a shorter tutorial level
- I like the fish powerups, but I wasn't sure what they did all of the time. It would be nice to show a little pop up of what a fish does when you get a new type of fish, or maybe even have a way to select the fish powerup you're going to use.
- It would be nice to have a fish power up slot counter, as I think I wasted some fish that I didn't have space for
Overall though I think you did a great job with this and the gameplay is nice!
A good game visuals are good, but game is hard or I am just bad!
What really could help the game is a make some invincible frames when hit, cause when I was swimming up and surouned by fish, I was defeated nontheless.
Also a way to swap from what fish power to use could be nice and to show what fish power you are going to use cause I had like healing and area damage, but didn't know which I was going to use first.
I really like the concept of the game and the visuals are also amazing!
Thanks! Yes some levels can get a bit intense and some waves could use a bit of fine-tuning. Maybe at some point I can also add a difficulty option.
About the fish power, the currently selected one gets highlighted (it flashes and has a little animation) but the effect is not always very visibile so I should probably improve that and indeed you're right that it would be good to be able to swap power, I'll keep this in mind for future updates!
So difficult, but I love it. One of the most polished games in the jam by far.
