Hey enbies! Welcome to enbyjam, the game jam for people outside the gender binary. We aim to showcase the talents and works of non-binary creators in the indie game development sphere. The jam is a little over a week, bookended by two weekends, in order to give participants enough time to give it their best.

We'll divide the jam into three categories just for fun so everyone can participate on a level that is comfortable for them.

  1. Weekend Jam 1 - The evening of August 5th, the start of the first weekend of the month, until dawn the following Monday.
    • This is meant to be more of a classical 'jam' for those who want that experience.
    • A surprise 'theme' will be announced shortly before the start of the jam.
    • Participants are encouraged to work in any team size in which they feel comfortable.
    • Submissions will be showcased throughout the week.
  2. Weekend Jam 2 - The evening of August 12th, the start of the second weekend of the month, until dawn the following Monday.
    • Again, more of a classical 'jam' for those who want that experience.
    • A different theme will be announced for this jam, separate from the first weekend.
    • Participants are encouraged to work in any team size in which they feel comfortable.
    • Submissions will be showcased throughout the week.
  3. Casual Jam - The entire run of the event.
    • For those with restrictions in ability to participate.
    • There are no theme restrictions. Please do your best and show everyone how wonderful you are.
    • There are no other restrictions. However you want to participate is welcome and encouraged.
  4. MEGAJAM - Also the entire run of the event. ( Otherwise known as "Cut-Throat Game Dev". )
    • Participants will follow the theme guidelines from Weekend Jam 1.
    • The following Monday a new theme will be announced that must be incorporated into the current design.
    • In a similar fashion, Weekend Jam 2's theme must also be incorporated into the current design.

There are no winners or losers. Even if you don't finish, we want to see what you made. Participants are highly encouraged to write up a post-mortem, talk about their experience creating a game, and talk a bit about their experience in game dev as a whole. If you are open to criticism, let others know; having people play your game and review it is the real way to win.

Finally, let's talk a bit about participation: This is first and foremost an event for non-binary developers to showcase their talents. We are not here to police anyone's gender identity, we encourage others to do the same, and all participants are required to respect pronouns. Any further concerns can be addressed to @lindarthebard on Twitter and will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Anyone found not respecting pronouns or generally being rude/disruptive will be removed from the jam. Let's all work to uplift non-binary creators and have fun!
