A Mortician's Tale is a prime example of the beauty, sadness, and reflection that follows the death of a loved one. At first the game is a soft narrative, following the story of a newly hired mortician, Charlie, detailing the bond between customer and consumer in what we call, "The Death Business". Amy Rose's motherly instincts, Matthew's light hearted emails that help the player laugh just a little bit while dealing with such a difficult subject, and my personal favorite, the educational and personal newsletter. I fell in love with the small details of this game, the dialogue of the grievers, not being able to proceed without respecting the dead, the subtle nod to LGBTQ+ issues, and Charlie's year long battle with her newly found home being bought out by Capitalism. A wonderful game, obviously crafted with love by wonderful people.
