Forgiving the sister-in-law? *SPOILERS*

Is there a way to not punish the sister-in-law, considering she didn't cheat on our brother and did it out of desperation?

Unfortunately there is not. :( This is my reasoning (sorry in advance for the wall of text):

Although she wasn't acting out of malice, Bianka DID commit a serious crime against the crown, and to let her off scot-free would have been political suicide. Even if the truth somehow managed to get around about why she did what she did, (which wouldn't be likely considering gossip, rumor-mongering, and the general climate of people always suspecting their government of lying to them) it would make the monarchy look too forgiving, weak and unstable. This can be especially dangerous during or right after a war.

If it had solely been up to the MC, I might have allowed for an option to pardon her completely (for better or worse), but MC's mother is still technically the Queen-Regent until her daughter is crowned. She's not particularly politically savvy, but even she knows she can't pronounce Bianka as anything other than guilty, despite the circumstances. It's only with her permission that MC gets a say in the sentencing at all.

All of that being said, certain options do deal with her more gently than others... and who knows? Under some circumstances, you WILL see her again, and when you do, it may or may not be possible to mend bridges... It all depends. ^^

I think I might have asked the wrong question. Can Binka and Amara ever come to an understanding? Judging from the fact that you said that when we do see her again, it is possible to mend bridges, I'm gonna say I was getting ahead of myself.

Anyway, thank you for answering and I can't wait to play the full game.

You're welcome! Sorry for misunderstanding and going overboard with the explanation, haha! xD

I hope you don't mind, but I edited the title of this thread to indicate spoilers...

(Edited 1 time)

My instinct is that- as is mentioned-, no it wouldn't be possible to pardon Bianka, especially since for however forgiving you yourself may be she was trying to sire an illegitimate heir to the throne and seize power. That can't be abided, even if she may be personally sympathetic. And as the creator mentioned, Mom's still Queen-Regent and so would have the ultimate say. This is an occasion where you have to draw a line and do it publically.

My gut feeling about how this worked from a few years brushing up on history is that you'd shove her in some kind of gilded prison (like what you can do in one of the options), with maybe the chance to meet her, talk to her, or seek advice (even if at your peril). And maybe- JUSt maybe- a few months/years/whatever down the line on the occasion of some great victory, accomplishment, or festival you might use the occasion to show your mercy or what have you and "Forgive" a bunch of people, including possibly Bianka.
