Some beginner's questions

Hi everyone! I'm really new to Bitsy so my questions may sound a bit silly, but gotta start from somewhere, right?

- How do I make a discussion where there is a second dialogue that is triggered only if the player comes to the sprite again? In such case only the second dialogue should be triggered,  nothing else. The same would happen on every revisit to the sprite. Do I need to use variables?

- I plan to make two rooms but they should have a different avatar. Is it possible?

Thanks already in advance :) - TC

Hey there TC! Definitely not silly questions, any software is weird to use in the beginning!

So, for your first question, you would have to put the dialogue as a "list" which you can do in the dialogue panel. There's also options for how you want the dialogue to appear  (randomly, in order and then stopping at the last one, in order and then cycling through them again) so pick whichever suits what you need best! In your case it should be "sequence."

For your second question: yes! This is possible through the avatar by room hack. https://github.com/seleb/bitsy-hacks/blob/master/dist/avatar-by-room.js If you're not comfortable with putting the code in yourself you can always use Borksy to help you out! http://andrewyolland.com/borksy/

However, I believe it's in need of some updates so if you plan to use more than one hack they may not work together. Luckily, the hacks themselves are pretty detailed on how they need to be coded in so even if you're a someone with little programming experience  (such as yours truly) you should be able to figure it out!

I hope any of this information helps! Good luck!

Hi Jayse and huge thanks for your help! Added another avatar using Borksy and everything works like a dream. I've been keeping busy with a little game for couple of days now and must say I haven't had this much fun for ages :) Thanks again!

Oh that's awesome!! I'm glad everything worked out!

Haha, I know how you feel! Once you figure out how to use Bitsy it can be quite addicting! I've made three games myself since finding it.

Good luck in your endeavors and definitely share your game once you're done! : D

Thank you so much! :D Yes I'm hoping to share the game soon, let's see if I manage to add some background music to it first (and if the game passes the filter because of considerable amount of black humor...).
