flatingo family — Indie Game Dev & Behind the Scenes

Hey folks! I’m flatingo — solo indie dev trying to turn coffee and chaos into a recognizable game brand.

I just launched my YouTube channel to document this glorious mess called game development. No sponsors, no fake hype — just the actual stuff: tools I use, mistakes I make, and maybe a few useful insights along the way.

🎥 First video is up: a comparison of popular game engines (Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc.) from the POV of someone who’s actually building something — not just reading the wiki and nodding wisely.

Right now I’m working on my very first mobile game, figuring things out as I go, and hoping to find people who care not just about what they play, but how it's made.

Expect devlogs, experiments, fails, maybe triumphs (??).  Maybe one day this will become something big. But hey — today is day one 🙌

First attempt to go public - and already a glorious fail  ❌

"Spot the difference" level: painful.
I asked my friends to share my video about game engines and their flaws — they dropped it on Facebook and Discord, helped spread the word… and then, right before bed, I spot a spelling mistake.
Maybe I just have bad friends who didn't tell me?

Hey guys, how do you even promote your game brand these days? I’ve been trying to take over media with content — YouTube, Instagram, Shorts, Reels — plus I’m writing articles about game development, but so far it’s barely getting any traction :/

Hey, by the way guys, I just made a quick video where I draw and animate a character for my game in just 3 minutes. It was kind of an attempt to do it fast and make it look good - and I think I found the perfect way to save a ton of time! How is it?

No problem, I subscribed to you. How are you planning to promote my games?

"Thanks for subscribing! 😊
As for promoting your games, my plan includes a few things:

  1. Sharing them on social media platforms (Twitter, Reddit, Discord communities).

  2. Featuring your games on my blog/YouTube (if you’re okay with it).

  3. Collaborating on game jams to reach new audiences.

  4. Leaving constructive comments and ratings to boost visibility on itch.io.

If you have any other suggestions or want to collaborate on something specific, let me know!"
