Hey Rekka & Devine - so Left rules and is just the kind of text editor I was looking for.  I love it so much.

It works great on my Windows laptop but on my 2011 iMac the shortcuts won't do anything!  Cmd-N, Cmd-W, Cmd-S, nothing.  I'm on macOS 10.12.6.  Any clue what's going on?
