TL;DR: coder here looking for some funky project or idea (3D) that needs one (and is not yet decided on engine).
Up front: not into horror, war, brutality or gore in the main, I should add. Like it kinda fun & funky somewhat at least (ie. “GTA okay, CoD nay” to sum it up — not to suggest we attempt such scale either way!)..
So I’m not a newbie to coding or C++ but am just aiming to get my feet wet fully on a new (to me) engine I haven’t worked with before, the WickedEngine. All in on that one, though. But I’m all out of game ideas right now for something actually fun and somewhat unique that a tiny team (us) can tackle together and finish and ship in months rather than years, iterating on the finer details and the various detail design decisions etc together in live sessions or sth.
Otherwise, left to my own devices, I’ll cobble something semi-generic together that’s not so novel and probably not a whole lot of gameplay fun (just so I get my learning/tinkering/practice fun merely). Surely you have a better idea than that brewing or burning in your imagination, right? And just lacking the chops? Then get in touch!
You: bring the big-picture story / concept / idea at the very least (something of its own beyond just “clone of <game>” or “mash-up of <this game> and <that game>”) — and take the lead on (the high-level details and progressions of) each mission / level (can collab a lot on the finer details of course, good fun to me as long as the big-picture story arc is sorta there already) — plus ideally also the art / assets (gfx + audio) or their sourcing (else we’ll have to build something on free assets out there and curate that stuff to our taste / design).
Me: codes the thing (unless you wanna collab on that too) with WickedEngine (in C++ plus maybe Lua) that will run fast & stably on Linux, Windows, and technically “could” also run on Xbox Series X|S + PS5 (got no console dev kits or account though, lol, so in practice basically only PC & Steam Deck). Fully fluent in English and German.
Us: plenty of live collab-ing, brainstorming, playtesting, (re)design decisions, experimentations etc.
Scope: sth. doable as a tiny team of 2-3, in months not years.
