Feedback and suggestions for StoneChess

StoneChess has recently been updated with a full demo.

Please tell me what you think, about the game, the page, anything.

Do you know any places on the internet where it might be welcomed?

The concept seems interesting, and the visuals are appealing. I’m a fan of Chess, and I’d definitely like to try out this game.

Based on the visuals and “How to Play” document, these are some of the thoughts and questions I had:

  • The visuals and effects are appealing.
  • How to distinguish the two sides? The flags on top of each piece? This seems very tiny to afford an easy recognition. I’d recommend a colour scheme that occupies more of the piece.
  • What does a Shield do exactly?
  • Shielded pieces having a higher move cost seems like a good mechanic.
  • Vindr and Ignis seem to be somewhat similar.

Difficult to say more without playing the game. Let me know if you happen to get a Mac or Browser build for the demo. I’d be happy to try it out and offer more feedback.

Thanks for checking it out. I'll have a think about those flags.

The shield blocks a single attack and prevents the attacker from taking the position and the piece. If they are out of AP that leaves the attacker in a dangerous position right adjacent to the piece they tried to take.
