I'm In Need Of Ideas For The Game I'm Working On

I'm currently working on my first video game. I made a super simple and early beta of the game (https://snipper-joey.itch.io/sharky) but I don't know what to do from there. Should I start working on the levels? Should I add more items first? If so, which items? Is there any glitch I should fix? HALP

Just finished playing your game. I like it so far! Here are some suggestions I have for you:

  • You should start working on more levels to add length to your game.
  • A storyline would be cool
  • There is a bug I found that caused the game to not switch my weapons when I used numbers 1-5.
  • Adding save files would also be beneficial to the player if you are planning to add more levels.

- You do realize this is a demo, right?

- I already made one.

- You have to use the numpad on the right.

- No shit.

That's.. not exactly a nice thing to say to otherwise polite feedback. Sure it may seem obvious, but people don't know what your thinking, planning, or already know, and are only trying to help.

Having said that, i've played your little Demo and found the collision, movement, and animations to be pretty smooth and responsive. Like Michael said I didn't see much in the way of a story, but considering its an early Demo i'm sure you may already have something planned. For idea's, maybe you could add water currents that push/pull the player around? You could also try mining other games for idea's, like the underwater level's of Super Mario, or Pixels ikachan.

Is your Demo going to have just the one level to demonstrate gameplay, or are you considering adding a few extra? Overall I'd say its a good step towards a solid game.

What? I replied nicely. You reading my comments with arrogance isn't my fault.

I'll try to add those things if they suit the level design. Good ideas.

It's not a demo. It's a beta. Of course it doesn't have a story. I'm not gonna play a cutscene that brings you directly to a test area.
