Confused by Gameplay Step 5

Gameplay Step 5 reads:

"Once you've selected the scene you want to create, go to the respective oracle and draw a number of cards (determined by your Traits) from the Main Deck and place them in the Discard Pile, which will become part of your Fate Deck."

This confuses me a bit. Let's say I decided my first scene was just going to be a Teaser scene. I have no idea what should happen in it yet because I like to keep things random, so I will rely heavily on the oracles.

However, at this stage, I have to draw a number of cards from the Main Deck. Okay, fair enough. But what does "determined by your Traits" mean, here? I don't think this is referenced anywhere else, and my Traits don't tell me anything about drawing cards for the Oracles.

In addition, I'm not sure if I have to put all the cards I draw whenever I ask the Oracle a question into the discard pile, because that could, theoretically, deplete the deck really quickly (I tend to ask a lot of questions) and also hugely inflate the Fate Deck, since the discard pile and the Fate Deck are the same thing from what I understand.

Maybe I have just missed something here, but I would appreciate any input!

I came here with the same question about how the deck determines my traits. Did you ever figure out an answer?

Nevermind, I saw that this was answered in another thread lower down!

Same question about traits and prompts. My traits don't mention anything pertaining to prompts for scenes. None of the oracles list any of the example prompts for context either.
