Hello my name is Alex and I'm working solo on a monster capture game in the vein of the Digimon Story games for the Nintendo DS.
I'm currently working on a short demo (title screen, two part intro, first area of the first region) to later test, distribute and use as a reference for funding.
The game will feature procedural map generation (which is already prototyped) and a tactical combat system where you can see the monsters beforehand, engage in combat and stay on the same chuck of map to commence battle.
Unfortunately I don't have tangible screenshots on my phone, but I have a dedicated discord server where I post daily updates. I will also share more detail via Discord to better explain the project.
I am working alone on the project and dedicate most, if not all, of my free time into the project. I have started roughly one month ago. The game is written in Typescript and uses pixi.js as a rendering engine.
The game uses 16x16 tiles but I am thinking about increasing the size to 24x24. Monster can span multiple times, depending on size, reaching up to 9 tiles for very very big boss monsters.
The main character is meant to span 2 tiles vertical and 1 tile horizontally as a frame of reference.
I am looking for a pixel artist to collaborate on the monsters, because I don't have the needed experience or practice to create the spritesheets and animations as if yet. I am fully aware that it's a lot of work and unrealistic to find someone to work on a pure hobby basis. My plan would be we work on the demo and if things work out we continue this project in a revenue share system.
If push comes to shove and the project will not receive outside funding, and I still believe in the project and idea, I will try to self finance.
If the idea sounds compelling or you just want to follow the project, feel free to reach out here or on Discord. My handle is story75 just like here.
Disclaimer: I have found some wonderful people who accompany me on the journey, who provided valueable feedback and support. I am also currently in the talks with a composer and concept artist but these collaboration are very early as of yet.
