Bright Oak - Demo is out now! (visual novel / interactive fiction)

Right Place. Wrong Time.

Seeking aid after a wreck, you stumble upon the quaint, tightly knit community of Bright Oak-- some 45 years outside of your intended travel plans, and struggling with their own troubles in the wake of a mysterious catastrophe. Finding a path back to your own timeline won’t be easy. Abandoning the townspeople to their fate might be even harder.

Bright Oak is a heavily character-driven visual novel with elements of science fiction. More information (including character intros) available on the Bright Oak game page: https://butterflyrocket.itch.io/bright-oak

The free demo includes:

  • The full first act (of three) in the story, clocking in at roughly 40,000 words of content!
  • The first major story branch!
  • A couple potential false starts, and one early Bad Ending! …sort of.
  • OpenDyslexic, Visual Sensitivity, and Screen Shake Off toggles!

What will be missing from the demo that is planned for the final release?

  • CGs (for those unfamiliar with the term, these are special illustrations which pop up in response to specific story events and noteworthy dialogues)
  • Characters blinking
  • Answers to all the questions the first act conclusion will bring up. 😈

Thank you for checking my project out-- and welcome to Bright Oak!
