Popular/New & Popular how they work.

Hello, I have a few questions about how the section "Popular" and "New & Popular" work on itch. As someone who releases assets semi frequently on Itch, I notice that sometimes these categories seem from the outside to function in funny ways.

My primary question is how is the "Popular" and "New & Popular" sections top listings calculated, is it simply by views? Also, I would like to know how long the views need to be held (so to speak) for your asset to stay at the top for whatever period of time. In particular I ask this because I have released multiple packs that get 200+ views, and might shoot to the top of either of these sections for a short period of time, but then quickly seem to fall off.

Case in point my most recent release Mini Medieval (if this shoudln't be linked here please infrom me and I will remove the link) had 250ish views on the first day of release, but is already falling off of "New & Popular" quite quickly. It never seemed to show up on the "Popular" category. How long to I need to hold a high amount of views for to even get on popular.

Does itch have a clear way to see any of this, or is it just a blind competition like most social sites?

Thanks!

Well, I'll post a bit of extra information, since I have a little more data now. After 2 days of 200+ views my assets did top at #1 on both "Popular" and "New & Popular". I'm still not clear on the questions above, but it does seem to me that you need to have high views continually.

Still looking for more information on this though.
