General idea of the game:
KOAF or also Kingdom of a Fool are the names given to this project. An open world, survival and RPG game, where you can follow a captivating and fun story, but even without following it you can enjoy its world, something similar to what many of us did in GTA San Andreas.
The main mechanic of the game is the conquest of kingdoms. The player will appear on a planet called Blue Agroma. A world of swords, magic and fantastic creatures. Blue Agroma is in constant conflict, because the kingdoms of this world compete for the little land that the planet possesses.
You have the power to change the world according to your will, for this the player will have multiple mechanics and tools that will help him on his journey.
Whether it's joining a kingdom or creating your own, conquering others or forming alliances, massacring or caring for your citizens, starting or ending epidemics, starting wars or keeping the peace. Will you be a tyrant or a saint? The decision is only yours.
PS: Or you can just go fishing.
Where the idea came from:
The idea for KOAF was born on July 5 of this year, that day the first episode of the fourth season of Overlord, one of my favorite series, was released. If I have to make a great summary, I would say that it is something like "someone goes to another world and starts to conquer it, while destroying entire kingdoms during their journey", a word that could describe the series would be great.
And with these bases I want to start the development of KOAF. Maybe some of you know what series I'm talking about, but I don't want them to be confused, I'm not referring to a game that has an anime-like aesthetic. I'm not very good at those things. What I want is to replicate many of the mechanics that the series has and the atmosphere of its world. A fun and alive world.
Game features:
The most important mechanics are:
Free world: Although the game will have a story, the world will not be tied to only this, it is your decision if you want to follow it, as it is to start an epidemic in some other kingdom for no reason. The game will have many entertaining mechanics, some already seen in other games and others original to this one.
Conquest of kingdoms: As I mentioned before, the main objective of the game is to conquer the whole world and discover the truth of it. Either forming your own kingdom or helping another. For this purpose, you will be able to form armies and lead them into battle, but it will not be the only form of conquest.
NPC servants: One of the mechanics that will help you with the previous point is this. You can create your own NPC according to your tastes. Rest assured that you will be able to choose between dozens of options and different races. You will be able to give it abilities and do whatever you like.
Invocations: This will serve to summon creatures such as demons and other similar creatures. Depending on what you invoke, this can help you, or on the contrary, complicate situations. In order to use the invocations, you will have to perform rituals, offerings and sacrifices.
Diseases: Diseases seem like a fun mechanic to me, and you can use them to unleash chaos during your invasions. You can also find the cure for these.
Special and unique events: To activate these events you will need specific actions, place, time or objects. Some do not require all conditions to be met, but others do.
Secondary Mechanics:
Elaboration of materials, resource collection, construction, exploration, agriculture, livestock, etc.
Why the name Kingdom of a Fool?
I chose that name because it has a lot to do with the story, plus it's a kind of mockery of the game itself. For now, it doesn't make much sense, but once you progress through the game it will get its meaning.
