So I've got an idea and the start of a game on the way and I need some feedback to see if there's any interest before I start sinking some serious time into it. Also thinking about starting a patreon project
So... The game is made for renpy but there'll be a lot more to it than a simple visual novel. There's a time tracking system that keeps track of the players status (health, sustenance, hygiene and energy). Some of these tick down as time moves on and the player needs to take care of eating, sleeping and cleaning themselves to not suffer negative effects. There will maybe also be a stat system, possibly similar to that in DnD (Int, Con, Wis, Dex, Str and Cha) and proficiencies calculated from those stats.
The game is set in a world not unsimilar to the world of the TV series Heroes, but in a more dystopian setting. Governments have been taken over by a world government in the wake of a change where a lot of humans have died and suffered from a wave of mutations, mostly negative and life ending but sometimes fantastical and immensely powerful. The government have used powerful mutants to grasp and keep control with an iron fist under the guise of protecting humanity. In this world, we start the game as a powerless (he thinks) and homeless nobody who gets unexpected help from a powerful mutant and later a rogue scientist. They reveal that the protagonist have hidden powers that he's not known about. Powers that can be used to subtly (and subconsiously) influensing others to helping him. The game will at this point turn into a game of building a resistance (for his own good or for the good of humanity) by influencing the people around him and slowly building an organization and his power. Eventually he'll get the ability to take over the powers of others and hone his own power.
It's a strategy game in the sense of there being a dimension of base building and choosing who to trust and influence and always picking fights that you can win and keeping under the radar of the government and potentially other organizations. Also directing research.
There'll also be an element of roguelike mechanics as one power aquired early on will be one of resetting time to the point of getting that power, retaining some power and all knowledge gained in the passed timeline. Potentially building an immensely powerful character even at the start of the game after playing the game for a while.
