See this topic for MacOS users running the game for the first time:

Hey there, the game force quit after I saved and tried to load another savegame. It happened only once (after finding the woman in the tower) and the save games have not been corrupted or anything. I got this message:

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

Thanks for reporting this.

Were you able to continue the game? Did it seem to be a one-off thing?

Yes, it was a one-off thing. Both save games worked fine after restarting the game and I didn't have any trouble finishing  :-)

Hi, I've bought the game on Steam and would love to play it, but it just refuses to work proberly :-/ I can run it and click on "Start", but then it begins to stutter, the images are only shown for a split of a second and when the first dialogue starts, the speech bubbles are empty.

When I try to reinstall DirectX it says that the right or rather a better version is already installed.
And I've updated the graphic card driver - still no success.
Then I un- and reinstalled the game - nothing changed.

Sigh - do you have an idea?

My rig:

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Intel Core i5-3570k
Geforce GTX 970 4GB

Ok! I just checked the Steam build to make sure something didn't happen to it.

Seems to run fine on my Windows 10 build. It may be a Windows 7 issue.

Can you send me an email: Donald at mindseclipseinteractive dot com

I'll send you an Itch.io key to see if this build runs for you instead.

Thanks,

Donald

Yes, great, the version on Itch works! :D Thanks so much for your help!

Hi,  I bought the game on Steam. Current content BuildID 2444883.

I'm using Slackware Linux 64 bit  14.2. Multilib

Python 2.7 default but I tried switching to Python 3.6 in case it was that.

After it failed to run, verifying integrity of game files via steam resulted in "103 files failed to validate and will be reacquired."

Then "all files successfully validated" until I try to run it  and then it goes  back to the "103 files failed to validate."

Traceback as follows:

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

Do you have access to an ubuntu distro? The game was only tested for Ubuntu 16.04 for use with Steam.

Otherwise, I can send you an itch key to try the itch version. Just email me: donald AT mindseclipseinteractive DOT com

Cheers!

Many thanks, the Itch version works perfectly.
I tried  replacing the Steam one with the Itch but it ended with the same result.

Just out of curiosity I decided to launch the original Steam version directly from the Steam folder and that actually works OK as well. Obviously the issue must just be a facet of launching from within Steam itself.

I tend to buy most of my games from Steam as their Linux support is getting to be quite amazing. It would be a great shame if the launch issue is not solvable as I imagine many people would just ignore and delete a game that won't launch. As I myself would have done if it hadn't been such an interesting looking game and, equally,  thanks to your outstanding customer service.

Great! I'm glad it worked out.

Thanks for the info regarding being able to launch the steam version directly from the game folder if Steam fails to launch the game.

Awesome, thanks for this hint! :D
