Developing a 2D zombie-shooter

Hello,

I've been developing a run-and-gun zombie horror game. It's basically Left 4 Dead/Back 4 Blood, but in a 2D environment.

You and three other players must complete tasks and slay hordes of the undead in order to survive. There are currently two game modes, one that involves players fighting from safehouse to safehouse, performing tasks to unlock the way forward, and another that involves defending a static location for as long as possible against increasingly difficult hordes of zombies.  Players can customize their character with unlockable skins, outfits, chat banners, and player perks. You can jump into a official server now, or download and host a private server for you and your friends to play.

I've spent quite a bit of time and effort designing, programming, and creating this little game. But one area I'm immensly lacking in would be promoting/building a community- let alone getting downloads/plays. I feel like the game itself is a fairly decently running game, and the concept is a fresh idea in the 2D game-verse at least.

But, I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should focus my effort on another project or another game concept. What do you guys think? Here's a link to the project; https://nratliff2078.itch.io/quarantine-2
