Did they confuse "Democratic Socialism" with "Socialdemocracy"

In the trailer you could see them talking about raising taxes for billionaires, which is the leftwing liberal solution to the social question. Socialists would seek to redistribute the means of production to the people, hence abolishing the bourgeoisie, which means there wouldn't be any billionaires.

Quite often people confuse Demsocs with Socdems, which annoys me.

Yeah there aren't many decisions, if any, that would count as fully socialist. The confusion makes sense though because (at least in America) we always hear about how the Nordic countries are "socialist".

By America you're refering to EUA only, am I right?
Don't forget that there are other countries in America.
Saying a hello from Brasil (yes, we use "s" here in Brasil)... ;).

@Commander Kappa  the first thing in the tutorial says they're meant to be challenges faces faced by a hypothetical socialist or social-democratic government in the USA. To me that implies it's bound by things which are realistically possible for a new incoming government who's working with a lot of - but not all powerful - amount of support in congress.

Socialism is when the government does stuff. And it's more socialism the more stuff it does. And if it does a real lot of stuff... it's communism.

He wrote the funny.

by my understanding, social democracy is a means (historically towards socialism, through progressive reform in a parliamentary system, but now includes mixed economies), democratic socialism is an end. I haven't played this game, so i don't know if socialism is for sure the end goal. It's definitely social democratic, social democracy and democratic socialism aren't mutually exclusive things.

Power corrupts.

Yes, yes, the title is a bit of a clickbait. The game doesn't simulate socialism nor democratic socialism but aims to illustrate a hypothetical way toward socialism in the US via social democracy within the span of two administrations. If you play well and if you are lucky you you can get way beyond what any country has ever accomplished though.
I'm working on a game set in a squarely eco-socialist future (~20 years from now) and prototyping kind of sequel/complement to demsocsim that goes beyond the institutional/electoral level. Stay tuned.

"I'm working on a game set in a squarely eco-socialist future (~20 years from now) "

Sounds very interesting. Any news on this?

Americans always do. That's why they think we would have socialism in Europe just cause we have social welfare and healthcare.

But there is some socialist policies too: supporting union, co-operative, worker owned corporation, nationalisation of banks, industries and so on.

Here is a few:
